Intro Forum Permissions for 10% Usergroup

Back on track guys. I don't care if you think the rules should be changed. As it stands today, 10% users are NOT allowed to post in intro. So why should they have posting permissions there? It only causes confusion and leads to mistakes.

The alternative is to start neg repping those that break the rules. Considering a single neg rep can be up to -12 points (Rep Power multiplier), I'd rather just remove their posting permissions. BTW - It will only take a few seconds to implement.

I agree. I can't imagine anyone would rather lose 12 points of reputation because they made a mistake, than have it made impossible for the mistake to be made. (If that makes sense)

regardless the opinion of mine... wouldnt it be easier just to punish the 10%ers if they say some1's intro is ok while it is not?

to make my point clear... lets say there was some noob... who didnt read the ro0lez and make the intro without putting much thought into it.. like 90% of ppl do...
and lets just assume.... 10%er points out few things he had wrong... and by that he causes the man to get abit more serious and fix his intro and bring it to a lvl a sutable man could decide if he is sutable for T-I... where is the harm in that.... maybe that 10% had that much trouble gettin in T-I he know the rullez by heart and at any time could be questioned and get A+... anyway... this 10%er saved time for someone who will decided to REP or not to REP... and didnt cause chaos... on the other hand... if he did... ban him for a day or so and he will either learn the rullez which will benefit all, or never show in INTRO area again, which again will benefit all... a win win situation falks....
furthermore, while i was on IRC waiting to get help i saw few high trusted guys talking and the idea was.. they just didnt have the drive to go over the itros coz they didnt want to wait till the next day to c if it is fixed... then again if this whole preccedure was saved by a 10%er comunity benefits...
lst, 10%ers like in army usually coz they r fresh and hideously stupid... want to help at any way posible... iliminating this is imposible... human nature...

The rules state that 10%ers aren't allowed to post in the Intro Forum. Therefore removing their ability to post there shouldn't cause any hardship; and it would keep them from messing their own reputation up and more importantly, it would prevent them from posting wrong information and confusing the applicants.

A 10%er may know the rules but it's doubtful they completely understand the nuances and applications of the rules. They could be helpful, true, but I think the possibilities for error are much greater than the potential benefits. And errors with new applicants is really the one place we don't want to mess up!

I agree with the suggestion to remove 10%ers posting rights to the Introduction forum.

This is a screenshot from the vBulletin Forum Permissions Manager. It would only take a TI Admin a few seconds to make the change and would only effect the 10% Usergroup in the Introduction Forum.

With the "Can Reply to Own Thread" option, they would still be able to reply to their own thread after being promoted from 0% to 10%.

i think that's a good suggestion personally, and i wonder, with it being so easy to implement, why it shouldn't be.

Two weeks later I'm still trying to figure out why this suggestion hasn't been put in force by the powers that be. Especially considering that it requires no new rules and would take one minute to modify the forum for it.

I think the 33% rule is still to low, it should be more like 55% or VIP with three month membership here, there are far too many people in introductions and far too many members getting banned quickly. Its a revolving door in and out and thats not good..It would be interesting to see the statics for members been banned to see what percentage are here less than a week..

I agree with the suggestion..I have seen some new comers posting there..even I posted there once during the old days..
so if we are not allowing any newcomers to post in the intro section then why not snatch their access from the root?
