Is there any GOOD reason for not caching the forum client-side as it is right now?
The reason I'm asking is that
1) It's freakin' annoying (really) to to see the entire forum layout reloading each time I hit F5 or go anywhere. I have to wait few seconds until I'm able to read or click (once I manage to read it) anything 'cause it all jumps all over until all images are downloaded and styles applied again.
2) It probably eats the bandwidth and server resources much more (unless you don't care)
Of course, I am aware what no-cache is for, especially on such dynamic pages. I'm just wondering whether it wouldn't be better to get rid of that and enjoy normal surfing. One of the forums I moderate uses
which I would suggest as an alternative.Code:<meta name="Revisit-After" content="1 day">
It's more reasonable and comfortable to me than reloading everything every 10 seconds (for each visitor). I believe everyone would like to experience forum navigation speed improvement.
edit:
Oh, and I can see a layout bug going on here. Interesting, nothing more than "code" bb used. Fix needed.
