Thread: Can we just ban Egypt IPs?

I have taken notice that a large number of members banned and never repped in have been Egy****n. Would it be in the site's best interest to just ban Egypt IPs unless through member referral?

Sidenote, why is the word for people of Egypt starred?

Someone happened to post "how to get invited into TI" on an arab site that's the primary cause of this. I'm sure there are deserving people who could contribute here at TI from Egypt (there are already a few, if I recollect correctly). I can't speak for everyone at TI of course, but my opinion is that we'd rather take our time filtering and banning members and not just bracketing them to a non - deserving category (unlike trackers, who do go that extra step), which would be unfortunate. Most of them are banned at the intro section, so I guess no harm is done.

Is it? I haven't noticed, if it is there isn't any logical reason to unless it's accusatory/prejudicial.

Interesting question. I actually encountered this while I'm working in the intro section. Let me try this again,...Egy****n...lol, same result when I preview my post here.

As for banning the IP's from Egypt, I agree with Escahton. We'll just have to ban them everytime they try to enter t-i.

Maybe we could just make a separate intro thread for Egy****ns, you know like a quarantine section, lol.

The asterisking out of the letters is the abbreviation of another invite forum. I there was some trouble a while back. Apparently they encourage trading.

I dont really know anything about it, but I do know for sure, is that T-I is THE best and most trustworthy on the net!

Just have a look around the forums to find more info on this matter, I am sure I saw something just the other day.

Hey, yeah I don't think banning countries as a whole is a good idea. I mean I've seen a lot of people who apply that get banned not only from egypt but Romania and India as well! I think when they apply or post intros just take some more time before letting them in. That also gives other members an oppourtunity to view the intro as well, maybe catching scammers cheaters etc....
Anyway just my thoughts!

I think there was a guide posted on an Arabian forum on how to gain membership into T-I and get free invites to private trackers. Its actually a pretty detailed guide, with advice on what to say in the intro post as well as a ratio faker program! N theres further instructions on how to beg for invites once you do get in and rep ppl when they send you an invite.

i don`t think that one person or even a bunch of persons should intervene in the decision on the whole group as long as there r people who r contributors and active ..

^ let me just point out that you specifically havnt contributed anything (0 igivers). And generally (at least this site users) from Iran, Egypt, etc are scammers. The reason I have not blocked the ranges is because that would be elitist bigotry, some users from palestine, egypt etc are actually good users, and I will certainly not have any of that anywhere on this forum.
