Thread: iGiver Multiplier - Mid Level / Request / Trusted Section

How do we create a simple iGiver system that provides more points for higher level invites? Why not base it on the SECTION the giveaway occurs?

Give Bonuses = 1 iGiver
Low Level Giveaways = 1 iGiver
Mid Level Giveaways = 2 iGivers
Request Invites = 2 iGivers
Trusted Section = 3 iGivers

I suspect some members will resist this change because most of their iGivers come from low level invites. That certainly is true for 80% of my iGivers... But let's be fair, shouldn't members giving away high level invites get a little extra credit? Won't increasing high level GAs also help to attract new members? Plus, this system would eliminate the need for Schuwe to manually credit 2nd iGivers in the Requested Section.

A SECTION based system could be done automatically (using the URL in the iGiver form).

I'd make different iGiver rewards for different trackers. Sure helluvalotta work, but at least you will have a good working system in the end.

we have had this debate before too....in the IRC....
i have stopped watching iGivers, when i give out my invites....
IMO, iGivers are just evidences that xyz gave an invite to abc.....thats it....

That's been suggested many times in the past. I think staff rejected it because of the amount of work involved and the likelihood of problems. Any change to the current system will have to be easily to implement.

There's a point in that, indeed, but on the other hand - iGivers have nothing to do with ranks or any privileges. Nothing. So they're just plain feedback after the deal is done (like ebay), nothing else. If it wasn't like that, then your suggestion should be implemented immediately (just like we get more rep points from high-rep users), but as long it doesn't really matter I think there's no use changing it.

Yeah like mentioned above this has been debated before and if I recall it was shut down, I think because regardless of what invite you have its still considered giving, so asking for more, them crosses the threshold of giving! Something along those lines..again if I remember correctly!

I will go along your thoughts here Vegas, and back you up all the way.
I think it's not the same when someone gives an FTN (for example) invo and when one is giving a bitgamer. the trackers are not the same as far as difficulty to obtain them is concerned, so it is only logical that the iGivers should also not be the same.
But there's a minor problem with that!
Many times i see invites that belong to one section being given to another section. I also have done that by mistake at some point!! So if what we say here was to be put in practice, it means a whole lot of work for some mods that would have to patrol the sections and observe every single one GA for misplaced (either by mistake or on purpose) invites. Otherwise some people would simply give low level invos to mid level for that extra cherry ;)

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this sort of the idea of the rep (and for that matter, rep power multiplier) system?

The iGiver system as stated is just for common feedback for invites and bonuses, anyone can give and receive, and trusted is already rep based, so it seems we are pretty close.

but then again......if someone gives out a FSC/FTWR/FTN invite and someone else gives out a SCL.....in the trusted...both will receive the same iGiver points.....
