I started an earlier thread, "Change the default light gray text on dark gray background colors" because it's difficult to read and it was received pretty well, but allowing people to select their own display theme would be a perfect win-win solution.

I'm totally all for this, but this would require some vBulletin theme developers to make some changes. What's the point of allowing to choose your own theme if you only have 1 to choose from?

Yes, for sure. I have trouble seeing text when it's bright in the room/day.
It's fine at night, maybe give the text a different color would help.

I voted no. As a webdesigner I consider this one a great forum layout. However - I'm aware that it's only a matter of taste and someone else might e.g. like it white. So.. I DON'T (personally) see it necessary, but wider choice palette never hurts. But if it came to choose between features, I'd rather see the staff working on more important things.

Actually, there was a design competition for a new forum theme, but no one was willing to do it. I could design, but I don't know how to code for sh.t lol..

I could do it, but it's a damn lot of not too pleasant work I don't have time for right now. Maybe later, IF no one else won't do that first.
