Default Post time-limit for new members

ive noticed alot of spam going on lately, mostly from people who just initially got repped in,

now i dont know if this is even possible to implement but i figured id throw it out there.

i was thinking maybe some sort of posting "Speed Limit" per se, could be implemented to limit the amount of posts that can be done within a certain amount of time up until you get to a certain post count or maybe a certain % or igiver or what have u.

this might be one way we can elimante alot of the people who are power-posting to get their stats up.

this would also eliminate alot of duplicate threads and bumps that are unneccessary.

I definitely agree with the incoming spam we've been having. Theres so much of it going around it literally spewing out of my comp.

Seriously though, thats a good idea, but don't you think it would be better for them to get banned immediately. It's very obvious some, maybe most, of the users here are not accustomed to creating a constructive post/comment in forums.

How about if new users are only limited to the off topic section with that "Speed Limit" you mentioned. That would be something worth considering.

I recall reading a discussion about posts not counting in the off topic section, but wasn't too clear about it. Nonetheless, the rules do state something along the lines of useless posts (i.e. Thank! or Good Job!) are eligible for banning.

so when you mean "they are better off banned" do u mean automatically via some sort of detection script or just banned by a mod?

on another note i think that fellow members of the site need to stand up and start getting vigilant, for example: i threw a post up on the chopping block (http://www.torrent-invites.com/chopp...att15wish.html) that has 39 views and hardly anyone stood up and said anything to defend me, everyone just stood back on the sidelines, i think we need to all start pulling together as a community. its everyones responsibility to make this forum a better place in any way they can.

Actually, what I meant was that mods ban spammers immediately, although I like your idea with the automatic detection.

I would have already thought that person would've been banned already for spamming. It maybe possible a mod hasn't seen it yet. Give it time, I'm sure it'll happen since you've already provided evidence.

I hesitated to post in there because I felt I had nothing constructive to add to that thread. Besides you stated

    take it from here mods..
    hehe!

hmmm it sounds scary... specially for a new user like me.. but i guess in the long term it sounds reasonable.
