There is a ongoing conversation about a member having the same username on another forum saying he was a scammer. The date on that was 2007. No more material was available on this person.
I am posting heer per mod request to use this forum not the chomping block for on going conversations.

I think it is very wrong to just use a username to ban a person and heres why.
How many usernames are out there 200 million or more and to think your the only one with your name is insane at the least. I googled my username not the one here but ones I use on other sites lol I came up with all sorts of people a guy looking for hot women, a priest, a cowboy in Texas, a owner of a bookstore all of which has the same name on blogs etc. The only way a username should be used to ban a person is when the email is also the same as it backups the email.
The moral of this story is you simply do not know if the person is the same person there are way too many people in th world to make it so.
See the Chomping block for more info on this.
    Peace

I dont think there has ever been anyone banned here solely based on a username. There is usually other evidence that supports the reason for a ban.

From what I've observed regarding usernames, it's usually pretty consistent to every other forums a person is affiliated to (with conditions). I'll use your username for examaple, you did a search for "Panamajim" and results were astronomical. Now do a search for "Panamajim invites" or "Panamajim torrent" and the search is greatly reduced specifically to torrents. This is just a simple example of trying to connect one persons username to another username at another specific forum.

Additionally, they give the accused 24hrs to explain his/her action. They could increase it a bit, but thats entirely up to them. Banning a username, I feel, can be somewhat effective. There's really no way to stop a user from coming in if they're that determined because they can just as easily chnage their name (i.e. Bob to Bob1 or B0b....) so I think banning the username does help slowing a determined a-hole. We can, however, rely on IP banning, but that in it self is an entirely new topic.

lol I never googled my username here I bet it does get a lot of results.
Your correct you can target it more for sure but still its just a name.
To the other comment no one ever getting banned for just the username I have no idea I have seen in the short time folks getting banned for almost anything under the sun but you could be correct.
