Problem with the downtime & Rep

..I faced a problem: using search doesn't really help answering his simple question (I needed to read few threads from different locations to make sure) and even if it does show up similar topics, it already happened twice for this one guy to get an incorrent answer!

I think a thread containing at least the "new rank information" + rank names (they don't appear in Dave's sticker in the general section) (especially claryfing that junior inviter status = 33%) + WHAT PRIVILEGES YOU GAIN WITH EACH LEVEL (rep ability, requesting, trusted section access, etc.) is needed here.

ALL IN ONE STICKER THREAD HERE IN THE HELP SECTION.

I think that would make sense and I was surprised not to find something like that. As for now, information is disintegrated, spread chaotically and - in my opinion - placed incorrectly (HELP section, NOT general section, is where them newbies come to look for it).



I think we could avoid repeating the same questions over and over with such a simple and reasonable move. If some will ask anyway, we just give them the link. This will surely decrease thanks and reps given by newbies to us, mentors, but what the hell.. :)

Indeed you did. The problem it's not solving anything. You pasted 3 links in a random thread soon to be buried under new and the same questions. Plus those links you gave there, again - are misplaced (tutorials + general section + help, I guess), separated from each other + they still don't explain everything in a clear fashion (one of them redirects to NEW RANK INFORMATION I already said something about). I totally skip the iGiver thing which is another common issue and deserves another collective all-in-one info sticker here.

All is needed is one, single list with lines like, eg.:

Junior Inviter = 33% = 7 days at site + 5 positive reps + 50 posts. - as a junior inviter you can rep others and make requests.

AND THE POOR GUY HAS EVERY DAMN RIGHT TO ASK ABOUT EVERYTHING!! Again: decentralized, incomplete and unintuitive information is what newbies have to deal with.

The only piece of information I couldn't find by searching was,
Seeing as thanking a post is similar to repping a post does thanking a post only give out 1 point as opposed to actually repping someone?

For example, if a user with high rep reps someone the rep goes up by 2-3 points. If that same repper just used the thanks button is it still worth the 2-3 points or just the one rep point?

And secondly, try repeating that back while you're drunk.. :P

Would be great. I've been here for some time and I still don't get half of the ranks.

I just wanted to say that the mega sticky is almost done, but I gotta go away for a while and get to know a detail or two from the staff. Then it will need some extra formatting (it's currently notepad will little bbcode only) and I'll post that directly in the Help section, where I'd like everyone to make suggestions / correct bugs, if any.
