Thread: Automerge Double Posts

I've seen a feature on some other vBulletin forums where all double posts are automatically merged into one post and the user's post count doesn't go up for them. Could this be implemented here?

i think it seem to bee hard, how system merge 2 or mor message?

I don't know but I've seen it done on another forum and it works great.

That can be implemented into any forum if you can find the right codes and stuff. I've seen it implemented in Snitz forums. If you know Snitz then you should know what I mean by how much Snitz sucks.

What I would like to know though is would the thread still be bumped afterwards?

Also, I haven't really seen any abuse in this area of the forums really. Any double posts I've seen so far have been very reasonably done.

I've seen some abuse. It does still bump the thread but it doesn't raise the user's post count or clutter the thread.

Wow, you're really hitting every thread tonight aren't you?

As long as it still bumps the thread then I'm all for it. Only reason I ever really double post is to quote another person on something or if it's my giveaway thread and it's moved down too far. I want people to have invites lol. =P

Well, I just think it would make the forum look generally nicer but if it's a lot of trouble then scratch it, it's probably not worth it.
