I think it would help a whole lot here that under your banner or maybe next to the IRC where you have space on the right to put in red or some bright color.
This is a Anti-Trading Site..no wheres do you have this. This way most folks coming in and others that are in and thinking maybe I should trade well this is right in front of your face. I would suggest putting it on every page but at least placed on the home page and the intro page.
    What do you think?

    Hey,

I think it is a good idea, however if kinda defeats the purpose in the introduction template, because then people will just answer no to "What do you think of trading?"
because they see it there. I rather hear their opinion on it without something persuading them to answer a certain way.

I don't understand why you want to hear their opinion. I don't see why trading is so bad except when you bring money into it..and that's selling. BUT, I have agreed to not trade or sell or anything at every site I've joined so far and will always stick to that. Opinions are opinions. "Can't judge a book by it's cover" or it's opinion.

As for adding we are a Non-Trading site, I believe it would help with our rep with trackers, which would not be a bad thing.

Maybe but since most of them do not have a clue of what trading is it might just prompt them to look into the matter. I still think its a good idea and I also understand your point. Maybe its better to take the word trading out of the intro period. Just ask the question..Would you give away a invite you have to get one that you want?(or some version of it) this way your speaking in plain language and there is not need to start defining what trading is.

Really well I will tell you why its bad because you have no idea who your dealing with. The person may not be a downloader at all. He may just go and sell that invite so how would you know if money was in it or not.

The other reason is more of a moral one. You get something for free as a gift why would you expect something in return?

I agree with your first statement, although TI will never get rid of that because there are those type of people in the world.

The second though, your defining an invite as a gift which is not a true premises. I woulden't consider winning contests for a invite a "gift". That's off subject though.

Asking about how they feel I would phrase it as so, "If someone had a tracker that you wanted, and you were giving them one they wanted, would you ask for his in return?" - This shows true intent, as well as makes them read it finely.

Trading is bad for many reasons. It turns invites into a bartering tool. Private trackers would prefer that we invite those we trust, and think only trusted friends should be invited.
Trading isn't free. You're basically paying someone else by using another invite/other invites as currency to "purchase" invites to a tracker.
It seems to go against the spirit of filesharing, which is giving without asking for anything but respect in return.

Should we note that we're against invite trading? Certainly not until a user has passed the "introduction phase". All the traders would just say they're against trading.

No difference userlame. I have helped out in the intro setion as you know. What always seems to happen if a person says I do not think trading is bad. The person who can rep them says well this site is against trading and it will get you banned. And of course the newbie says Ok np thats the rule and I will not trade. And if everything else is good on the intro the person gets rep in.
    Peace

This is very true. But I guess this begs the question, is that a problem?

Trading invites is stated in the rules, is it not? so if your new to the site your first step along with your intro is to get familiar with the rules. I understand people will say whatever to get in, though asking their opinion sheds some light on what they think. If trading is not clear then maybe we should define it in the rule sticky better, in the intro page and make it red so they do see it. And maybe instead of saying trading is not allowed here, maybe we can just say "read the rules" and if they dont get it, they dont get it simple as that!
