Default Possible changes to the introduction template

The introduction template is good as is, but there are changes that could be made to it to ensure that users are aware of the basic rules of this site.

Perhaps something similar to the following can be appended to the template:

Type your username next to each item listed below:
    1. I understand that my username on trackers should be different from the one on this forum. [INSERT USERNAME HERE]
    2. Trading is strictly forbidden in this forum, and users are expected to not trade outside of it. Traders will be banned. [INSERT USERNAME HERE]
    etc.

Those are just two basic and very important rules, but obviously others can be added.

^ I agree with userlame. Especially the first point that the usernames on trackers and this forum should be different. I would have thought something like that would be common sense, but judging from the many people I've seen who have the same usernames for everything, it really doesn't seem to be.

good suggestion, most people blow past these rules without giving it a thought. i have noticed this more and more often now..

I see that HotPinkLipstick had something similar to this idea already. So by this I gather that many people are of the same mind on this issue.

First of all, the introduction FORUM is what is the problem in my humble opinion. I'm not saying do away with it in any form, but the stickies are very misleading. What I think should be done is to consolidate the post all into one, which is not hard at all.

"User Account Safety" is VERY misleading. I totally blew by this because well, it's a torrent forum and it would make sense that you would have a tutorial on DHT and other means of "safety". This should be in with the Introduction, if you want to keep a forum for its self to show how to fix proofs, create it with the title "Keep your Account Safe: PROOF EDITING". This is much more direct and will get attention faster.

The Introduction Template: Example: This is in great format and question, BUT it needs to be a bit more precise. "REQUIRED: Introduction Template". Really, if they miss this part it says alot, but if we are wanting to take strains off people, that would be how.

The Master Sticky - Rules, Info, Everything's Here: This is a great thread, but it has the Introduction Example in there as well as other information that is just repeated. I truthfully have no clue how to fix that, because getting rid of it is totally not a good idea.

Yea, if we're gonna keep the intro forum, it would probably be best to combine EVERYTHING into a real master sticky. Then, it's just click, read, post, REP, done.

A lot of suggestions have been made also about doing IRC intros, which I think would be easier because there are quite a few people on the IRC all the time, ready to help. Also, it would eliminate double-posting, and if they can't blur out their ratio proofs for some reason, one trusted member of T-I can take a look at their profile links, or something like that.

I agree with giga on the consolidation into one must-read sticky. I know speaking for myself (rather new around here), I really didn't realize how important the user-name situation was until just recently. With such an influx of new blood around here it is really important to help enforce good habits and rules in them.

Lucky for me I learned most of my lessons in time but for others they might not be so lucky, and their accounts are in trouble before they even start.

i'm glad to get your input on this. when i signed up here, there was only one sticky, and it made it a lot easier to follow than what we have right now. but everything is changeable :)

Im actually not very much in favor of this. I think that if they have intentions to trade when they get here, they will always have these intentions unless they are like scared of trading. If you post that, then they'll just say that they wont trade. If they mention trading in their intro, and flip out at them and he might get a warning/infraction/ban before he can affect T-I.
