Default handy section filter on "What's New?"

Area 51 is a busy place and it's also kind of annoying when you're not in need of an invite (and you're not a moderator, of course), so I was thinking about a section filter and this image might talk by itself:

And it could also have a configuration, by user, to disable it. :)

**EDIT: subscribed threads should always show

+1 if it can be done easily. The invites thread spam makes it difficult to find relevant threads.

I'm looking into how this can be done. Were you suggesting a specific mod that can do what you're asking?

Well, I wasn't, but now I (kind of) am.

I registered myself in vBulletin Forum and found this:

Selective Forum Filter - vBulletin.org Forum
    Description
Ever came across large boards with a huge number of sub forums? Couldn't find your info? Wanted to run away from that huge load of stupid threads? This hack is intended to save your users from having such a horrible experience. It provides them with an opportunity to exclude any number of forums from the forums list (as well as from "get new"/"get daily" searches), which still letting them to access those forums directly and search within them, too.

    Opt-Out Forums from Get New/Get Daily - vBulletin.org Forum
    Description
This Hack allows the Users to select certain Forums they do not want to appear on Get New/Get Daily. It includes a new Permission, so you can specify which Usergroups can use this feature, which Forums can't be excluded, etc.

But for both doesn't work with vB4, they need to be rewritten for it. I'm not a vBulletin guy, so I think that someone more experienced could find something better and alive for v4 or make it happen without installing a mod (my bet, now that I see that 2 mods, that did almost the same, are discontinued). But I'm still searching for some light.

You mean something like this ?

    TI New

Someone made a thread for this a few months back.
Here it is: Filter the noise: keep track of only certain types of threads on T-I

Exactly! After some time I managed that and I'm using this very link here, but I got all codes from html... :S

Then bookmarking is what I'm using but my browser opens a new tab every time I click on a bar button or favorite, so it's kind of annoying (but it's good for a lot of other things), and if I want to remove or add something from the filter I would have to re-read the html (or keep that codes fge wrote down for us), and more than all that, I think it would be a great addition to people here.

Spot on! I think it would be perfect for Area 51. It really is handy. :)

    Nice idea, +1 from me.
Having such a filter would be great for users who like to check out specific forum areas only.

Good suggestion +1 too. Annoying when too much Area 51 post in "What's New"
