Thread: [TIv4] Reducing post's space (postbit)

Since we upgraded to v4 each post takes a huge amount of space. I'm creating the thread to give my ideas on how to reduce this problem.
Feel free to comment adding you thoughts and ideas as well.
By the way, everything here is related to the postbit (everything that you normally see under your avatar).

#1: Remove unnecessary space - Images 2 and 3

If you look at the way we have it now you'll realize that there is a lot of unused space. If you remove it all at once, like I did in the example, you will see a big difference right away.

#2: Remove unnecessary info - Image 4

I like the mention/tag system. It's new and interesting. But having the number of mentions/tags in every post you make is a bit useless. It's just an interesting stat, and if you want you can check it in your profile already. Same thing goes for "location" and "join date". If you want to know when a user joined, you can just click his username and check it in his profile, along with his other info To sum it up, I think "Mentioned" and "Tagged" should be removed. I can accept "Join Date" and "Location" being there, even though they can be removed if we still think posts are taking too much space.

I think this would be very effective if done correctly. Take a look at this example:

I believe pulser working on a way to move the signature high up to reduce space.

My idea was an option for us to no see Mentioned / Tagged / Join Date/ Location, but other people who haven't disable it can still see it.

Yes, I am aware of that.
Also correct about the second sentence, staff has been trying to find a way of moving the signature up, starting as soon as the text ends.

This here is about the postbit.
I am not suggesting that we do it (as we have decided to do it some time ago). I am suggesting how to do it, and asking for our user's ideas/opinion :)

Yes, I'm all for this suggestion Kev. I agree, the post bit is taking up way too much space now and has become unnecessarily crammed with trivial stats. As a result, posts are taking up more space than they need to and threads become unnecessarily long. It would be cool if we could just have the igivers and the post count in the postbit. I would leave out the blog entries too: if you click the username you already have the blog entries in the link menu. On top of that, blogs are already present in the navbar and in the sidebar, so it's really unnecessary to have yet another link to them in the postbit in my opinion.
I'm all for a clean look and I believe our new theme would benefit from it :)
