Default Remove the Repboost for Offers Scam

I have given up my email for many of these offers, and I am excited to be getting all of this spam in my spam box. I have received only ONE rep point and have yet to get the reputation credited to my TI name. So I am asking the mods to remove this scam as it is not beneficial for the users to this site. I will post a poll on this thread as well. Users feel free to comment, and if any other users can get this to work. If anything post a tutorial on how to make this work.

I too have completed some of these, gotten the confirmation of x-rep will be given and then never ricieved. I am fairly skeptical to these type of things so I created a new email account to complete these " surveys" just in case, so I don`t have a problem with spam-mail though. and where yo had to list your phone number i read the "rules" beneath, created new message to stop subscription ready, and sent it as soon as i got the confirmation message.

    To sum up:
    No Spam
No Charge to my phone subscription
    Though No Rep Result either

    My results would be.....
New spam in my box, I wish I had setup a secondary email account like zack.
I was also infected with maleware that caused bogus antiviral popups trying to get me to buy a fake program. I had to boot into safe mode to remove it.

Like I said in the other thread, very disappointed T-I continues to support this. I guess it's acceptable as long as someones getting paid.

I'm gonna quote something from another thread on this same topic:

You show me a single one of these types of "Affiliate/survey" sites that isn't full of spyware and scams and I'll show you a well hidden virus slowly eating away at your machine ;)

Having said that, to the people doing this to try and get some rep, there are much easier ways to gain rep on the forums. Make some giveaways (even for low level trackers people will give you rep), post helpful things, maybe write a review for a tracker you're part of, etc. There are plenty of guides to help you earn rep on the site. Trust me when I say it's not hard to get a decent amount of rep if you make worthwhile posts, hang out in IRC and generally get noticed in a good way :)

Are there any moderators that want to comment? Or do any of you not care?

I think it would inappropriate for mods to offer their opinion or at least I wouldn't expect them to. Something like this would be more of an admin decision.

Gonna be a jerk here and answer your question with an I honestly don't care. Personally, I stay away from anything that asks me to sign up to earn something else. More often than not there's a catch - you should expect to be flooded with a bunch of spam. Yes, you could take all the necessary precautions by creating a dummy email account, but still, too much effort in my opinion. Right now you do have a choice. After reading all the negative blog comments in the past five or so pages maybe, just maybe, you should rethink whether or not you want to do it. You can choose either to participate or you don't. I don't know how many members are actually receiving their rep, but apparently, some are.

But seriously, there are much simpler ways to earn rep here. Read VectorKing's guide. Read F1member's guide. You should be set after a quick read over of the two threads. Besides that, Dave is the one who put up the article so Dave will be the one to decide what to do with it.

I agree with el2em, don't do it if you don't want to. There's plenty of other ways to earn rep. I'd like to believe people are smart enough these days to make their own decisions knowing the consequences ahead of time. It's not T-I's fault the offer is up, it's your fault for going through with it.

thank you el2em for setting the record straight. I never went this route for rep so I suggest you find another way

make useful posts help others on the forum in the help section. Help others with invites etc..

as far as the offers they were placed by the site owner so we can not make a decision when to remove

While I understand ell2ems viewpoint, I'll have to disagree. It's a poor choice in customer service, site reputation and could reduce the trust that some users have in this site.

If a site is getting feedback that something it is promoting is scamming/causing issues for its users and it doesn't step up and deal with it, it does show really poor form.

While I do agree that users also have to share some of the responsibility. If something is too good to be true, its often too good to be true. They also have to accept some of the responsibility of using that option and not using some basic computer/scam common sense. That being said, since T-I also put it in front of the users and effectively endorsed it, T-I should also claim some of the responsibility.

Another thought to think about: Why deal with a company that is so blatantly dodgy? Do you really think they're going to pay you what they promised? Can you trust them to be honest with you when they seem more than happy to use underhanded tactics on your user base?

I'm not against any site trying to monetize their site, in fact, I often support it. There are better options to monetize T-I out there than this company. I'd suggest using google adwords before I'd even consider suggesting this company to anyone.

If the owner/admin wants to monetize this site, say so and lets open a thread on how to make something happen that will be a win/win situation for both T-I and the user base as this first attempt isn't helping long term. I have some ideas that could/should work here and I'm sure others do to.
