    Default ISP Section

What about a section to talk about ISP's and how torrenting-friendly they are re: throttling, sending letters etc.

I would suggest you do this in a thread, if it proves useful and popular, it will get stickied. Not sure it warrants having it's own section, but if it does, having a well used and popular thread will help make that case down the line.

Before you start the thread, give some thought about the information you want, and how best to present it. I would suggest keeping it as concise as possible. Allow people to submit info based on their experience, and then update the original post to present that info.

Basically a good idea, i would appreciate a thread like this just for finding out about possible censorship by the isps.
But apart from that, I would not torrent from my home connection anyway nowadays. Why take the risk?

I do not think that subjects warrants its own section. There is a "bittorrent" discussion forum for just that. Plus, I do not think ISPs are that much of a problem yet. Private trackers are not monitored as much.

Hmmm well my ISP has sent me two letters to date asking me to kerb my downloading, third strike and you're disconnected - allegedly anyway.

Edit to add the thread URL as suggested: How torrenting friendly is your ISP?

An interesting idea, but I think it is better suited for a thread than a section. Reviewing ISP's is a bit removed from the core purpose of this site.. but more germane is that our membership is international. To do the topic any justice.. to merit a dedicated section would take a large number of threads. And many highly trafficked forums that talk about ISPs in great detail already exist.

I'd suggest that we start off with threads about ISPs and when we see a high degree of interest and large number of ISP threads, then that would be the time to look at the merit of adding a new subforum.

The only reason I said forum vs thread is because (generalising here) an American T-I member will/are just putting the name of their ISP without saying their country. As if the rest of the world is familiar with Comcast and Verizon etc. - we're not! Some kind of sub-division would be helpful when reading such threads imho. I don't know where the user base of T-I is from but even a "US" and "Rest of World" division would save a lot of trawling through posts that are of no relevance for both parties.

The thread is on the forum now (see link above) and yeah, as I kinda expected (I'm not trying to say this in negative way) non-US members are putting their country as asked, US members aren't bothering to clarify in what country their ISP is located.

I share Coppers sentiment and agree we should have a good amount of ISP interest, but I do think it's a good idea to have information about ISP's. Information is powerful my friends.
