i think thats a good idea.. you can get better impression of people that way, and easily assume who would be a good member..

I agree with most of the people on this thread; I think it's a good idea, would simplify things a bit. The only caveat is that there need to be some people willing to conduct interviews.
Its a great idea. I got into many channels like learnbits.me with an interview.
An official channel will go a long way to help potential suitors.
I was thinking of opening a thread until i saw this one.
I think its a good idea.. with the new members some of them may not understand the rules or may not read it and could cause us problems if someone has repped them in.
I think they should still have to do the template like schuwe said but they should only be repped after a interview.. Not to keep them out of the site but to help them have a clear understanding of the rules. It safe guards members in the community and also helps the new members understand the rules clearly instead of just skimming past it. I would be up for doing the interviews if this was to happen :)
