    Default Reduce clutter, up performance?

    Hi Team

I'm not very good with computers and the like, but I want to run something past you anyhow. I believe(and this might be wrong) that if I dont use/view something for a month or so that I must delete it,because it uses resources on my pc ane makes it slower. Now if that is true: I see a lot of threads that is duplicated or inactive for 6 months or more, would'nt it streamline things a bit if meaningless/unused/double threads can be deleted? Maybe there can be a set of criteria under which a thread will be removed, or they can be removed at staff discretion when it is deemed of no use?

Older threads do get deleted, but the majority of the inactive ones are vital to our members - especially the older give-away threads. Numerous members search the post histories of their potential invitees so removing these threads will likely do more harm than good.

Dupe/spam threads are expected to be reported by our roaming members for staff moderation. Many of these are, indeed, deleted.

Thanks, I can see how some stuff can be usefull, it's just something like the mac n cheese thread in the food subforum that bothered me, its locked so nobody can make any new sugestions and there was only one reply to begin with.(It just my luck that the only example I can think of is so lame!)

    Thanks for your time though!

How does it make your PC slower? I don't understand.

Yes i am a little confused as to how this can use resources and slow down the performance of your computer. Maybe you are confusing what you read with cache. This is basically memory for your browser of all the pages you frequent so that it will not have to reload everything on the page, just call it from memory. And this can be cleared by going into your browsers options menu and clearing cache.

In my opinion my pc works better when unused files and programs are deleted. I thought the WEBSITE might perform better if old come unused stuff is removed too.

Okay, I understand now! Well these websites are run on huge systems with a lot of memory and power behind them, so most of them are built to take on the job! :)
