    Default Tracker List

Sorry if this has been suggested before; I couldn't find a thread with exactly this request.

I think it would be really useful for n00bs such as myself to have a sticky post in the root of Free Invites forum that lists all the common tracker acronyms, the names of the trackers they refer to, and--if available--a link to each tracker's review. I know that when I'm browsing invites, I often come across acronyms I don't know, and have to stop to search the whole forum for tracker names and reviews.

There are some great lists of tracker acronyms elsewhere on the site:

    Tracker Acronyms!
    http://www.torrent-invites.com/sugge...eviations.html
    Torrent Names Abbreviation (TNA) Dictionary

The only problem with these is that they can be hard to find. It would be great to have them all in one easy-to-find place, and helpful to add review links to them.

I'd be happy to help with this, although I don't think I have privs to post to the root Free Invites forum.

    Thanks!

Yes, even better then a sticky, let's make an official button here:

That will lead to a vBulletin sheet with all of the tracker names, links, acronyms, hyper links to reviews etc.

Great idea! It would be even more useful to be a click away from the list when you're anywhere on the site.

I would like this idea if someone used all those existing threads to create a complete & professional looking chart, with all the acronyms and respecting the trackers who wish to keep their URL secret.

If that happens, I'm all for it. Area 51 only has 1 sticky (the invite GA guide), it wouldn't hurt to add a second one.
In alternative, it could be placed in the help desk.

Edit: I do not like the idea of creating a new button for it. If we were to create a new button it should be for something far more important, like the forum guides (rules, faq, etc.)

I agree with Kevin, it would be great if someone made a complete and neat chart. I wouldn't create another sticky for it though, and certainly not a button. Too much stickies and buttons, and things become a mess. I'd suggest including a link to the new chart in the invite giveaway guide . Under paragraph 3 - applying for an invite.

I believe posting some acronyms not all will tell you the name of the tracker IPT TD all you have to do is hover over the letters and you will see the full name, but I'm not sure if this is for every tracker especially the ones that want to keep their name private like PTN

I remember that as a new user I found myself a lot asking wtf does What mean ?! This question repeated itself with each new tracker I encountered and it took me a lot of time searching the forums and googling for an answer. I'm sure every user who's learning about all the different trackers is doing the same.

Experienced users know the trackers acronyms naturally and tend to forget their earlier experiences.

    To conclude:

    • A top button would be efficient and time saving.
    • It would centralize the information making it easily accessible with one click.
    • It would be visible to everyone and from everywhere on the site, new users and experienced alike.
    • We won't need these threads anymore: "what elearing/TV/HD/music trackers out there?".
    • There's enough room in the bar for another button as other buttons can be moved and shrank a bit without sacrificing letters.

PS. I'm aware there's an acronym recognition but it doesn't always work and it doesn't work with every tracker, it certainly doesn't link to the tracker's url or to it's review either.

I'm sure the recognition thing is a vB mod pretty sure its possible to modify it somehow and include this in it if possible. When clicked it will be hyper-linked to the review where everything will be. I'm all for the idea, we should create a Google Docs page and post it somewhere where everyone can see it, we just got to be careful who we give permission to edit it. That would be a nice way to start things.

In other words, it should be very easy to implement a vBulletin chart with all the information.
    Not google docs.

I believe there was a discussion about something like this for members who got banned, to have the log be visible on the forum nav showing who got ban and the reason why then this happen -> Banned Members Log - Torrent Invites - Get your free bittorrent tracker invitations! maybe a chart like that can implemented for the acronyms or sticky post either way, whatever works.
