We are always looking to make things easy Trev, so I think that something like this could be pushed through fairly quickly. As for the quality, well its a lot of work to stay on top of the list constantly adding and removing data. To my way of thinking a form would be easier since you are asking the general populous to keep it updated, should someone input a bad/not up to spec submission you could easily delete it, or make the necessary changes to only the bit that needed it since you would only be editing one field and one record, you wouldn't have to scroll through a massive list - if you get my meaning.

TBH Libchamp I think the positioning/location/accessibility of the list is the least of our worries at the mo, that can be discussed/decided at a later date, I not saying that accessibility is not important, I just think that if this list is seriously being considered then the creation/maintenance/feasibility side of things is more of the priority :)

    LabChimp and Jamesbb like this.

Tipping the Spear of Victory before an Army of Darkness,
she deals swift justice to whoever dare oppose her.
Possessing hidden power of untold measure,
she watches all who scurry beneath her gaze.
One may try to imitate her, but none will succeed,
for inclined to both limitless kindness and vengeance, She is at once,
our Hestia, "First and Last", and our Destruction.
    She is ...
    The Esteemed Exalted Mistress.

That was kind of my thinking when I started the thread, though I wasn't sure how to create a publicly editable page on vBulletin. I think that if all forum members were allowed to edit the information, it would stay up to date, and if mods or seasoned users checked it out every once in a while, it would stay correct. All without a huge amount of work falling on any one person.

I'm surprised there's any doubt about the merit of this suggestion.

It's been a goal of mine for years. We are actually one of the only invite sites that do not have a tracker list.

Here is what our competitors are doing:
What Trackers Offer - FileSharing Talk
Tracker list - Torrentinvites.org - Your #1 source for Torrent Invites!
    Torrent Invite - Tracker Index

I don't normally post links to other invite sites, but I'm dying to find out how those lists were created. Those pages are so similar that my first inclination is they were created using a modification available on vbulletin.org. I spent days searching vb.org and even examined the page sources for clues, all to no avail.

Can anyone else determine how those lists were created? If they are custom modifications, does anyone know who the authors(s) are?

Note the "Filter Results" option + all of the columns are sortable:

They also include a form for members to add new data:

Trevor, Hearts, PROXIE and 4 others like this.

    Woah!
Back from the dead, nice Vegas!

I'll do some research on the matter.

    Edit:
Vegas, did you try asking around on VB.org ?
Surely a coder or mod over there will recognize it...

I never thought to actually look for a tracker index, those other sites have done a great job putting them together, putting aside the inner dealings that get done daily on said sites. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with, I'm sure it'll be great. btw, skittles? I wanna know who made that tracker and congratulate him

I think it would be really useful for n00bs such as myself to have a sticky post in the root of Free Invites forum that lists all the common tracker acronyms, the names of the trackers they refer to, and--if available--a link to each tracker's review. I know that when I'm browsing invites, I often come across acronyms I don't know, and have to stop to search the whole forum for tracker names and reviews.

There are some great lists of tracker acronyms elsewhere on the site:

    Tracker Acronyms!
    http://www.torrent-invites.com/sugge...eviations.html
    Torrent Names Abbreviation (TNA) Dictionary

The only problem with these is that they can be hard to find. It would be great to have them all in one easy-to-find place, and helpful to add review links to them.

I'd be happy to help with this, although I don't think I have privs to post to the root Free Invites forum.

    Thanks!
Happy to do it. The only problem is I can't get the text editor to either (A) parse tabs (or not strip out the space character) or (B) "automatically parse links in text" and "retrieve titles from external links" when those links are within a table. Here are the results that I get when I try.

    (A)
Site Abreviation Category Link to Review
    0day.ro (0D) General 0day.ro (0D) Review
    29 M-TEAM (29MT) General 29 M-TEAM (29MT) Review
    3dBlurayISO (3D) Movies 3dBlurayISO (3D) Review
    3DTorrents (3DT) Movies 3DTorrents (3DT) Review

    (B)
Site Abreviation Category Link to Review
    0day.ro (0D) General http://www.torrent-invites.com/tracker-reviews/137750-0day-ro-0d-review.html
    29 M-TEAM (29MT) General http://www.torrent-invites.com/tracker-reviews/181233-29-m-team-29mt-review.html
    3dBlurayISO (3D) Movies http://www.torrent-invites.com/tracker-reviews/82120-3dblurayiso-3d-review.html
    3DTorrents (3DT) Movies http://www.torrent-invites.com/tracker-reviews/136928-3dtorrents-3dt-review.html

I have 418 current active review links in a spreadseet right now. I am also concerned that this may crash the editor (it misbehaved when I tried pasting the whole thing the first time). Ideally, a database online would be the best way to handle this, but since that will take real work, entering this into a message is the quickest route. The only question is how to get this into a properly formatted message.

    HELP!

Guess what? You're now looking at the table that is CUT OFF and saying WTF, this guy is an idiot, iright? It posted correctly when I previewed it. See below:

So, there's yet another "feature" of the forum editor we must overcome in order to post the full list. If anyone knows the intricacies of vbullletin, please help.

And I love the automerge. Charming.

    Karagarga (KG) Movies
    KillaWaves (KWS) Music
    Kinghou High-Quality Club (KHQ) Music
    Kinozal.TV (KTV) General

I think this works now. Testing with live post.

Rather than bury the index in this thread, I given it its own thread here:

I still don't see the point of this list. If you click the Title link at the top of the sub-forum, you also sort it alphabetically so wouldn't this be redundant?

Cool. I had no idea you could do that.

However, you get 20 results max before you have to go to the next page. Plus OLD and RIP reviews are included.

Yeah, all you could really do about that is increase the thread numbering to 40 in your personal options. Either way, I think your intentions are good. We once had an index similar to the one you've created, but it became evident how difficult it was to manage after seeing all the broken links after a year. The original thread poster also lost interest and the thread eventually became a graveyard. I'm not saying you'll repeat this, but I'm just letting you know it's not the easiest task to manage.
