Thread: Shoutbox?

I know we have IRC, but I enjoy using the shoutbox to say a quick few hellos and sometimes hold conversations with other members without opening my IRC client.

I noticed that TranceTraffic has one and is usually very active (but they post a lot of shit like links to shocksites to gross each other out, that's the TT shoutbox for ya), but I am thinking about having the shoutbox to quickly announce giveaways that you started or are starting, so people can be up to date and not have to browse through stuff all the time.



IDK what do you guys think?

Agreed, to the bad. Idk shoutboxes are cool if things like idk "getting a site hacked" doesnt happen

I love places with shoutboxes. I think it would make this place better.

I can see Ameba spamming the mess out of it. lol. now that would be some good ol midget fun!

No shoutbox would be useless and would promote spam on it IMO

Yeah but there is no such thing as spam in the shoutbox. It wouldn't go towards your post count... it would just be a place where we could talk about anything we wanted (within site rules). IRC is cool but most people never see the conversations in the IRC. MOre people would be active in the shoutbox as everyone would constantly see it. In my experience, it is also a great tool for users who need help and takes a bit of stress and work away from the mods.

Exactly. Hopefully the spam won't be as obscene as the shit at TranceTraffic, but shoutboxes are fun. It will keep spam out of the IRC too, and it doesn't really need moderating.
