Do you know how many trackers there are out there?
Are you seriously expecting the staff to sit there and work out what the percentages are with regards to how many times they are open compared to closed?

To be honest I do NOT see a problem. We are an invite site after all, does it really matter that much if a tracker happens to be open or closed when invites to it are being given out. This site is based on sharing and goodwill, people are ENCOURAGED to give away what invites they have, and to be part of the community. All this would do is push people away from the site and discourage the very thing we are trying to get people to do - GIVE/SHARE. We have more than enough rules as is, and the giving/receiving of invites is complicated enough (for some), I see no reason to complicate that process further or make the moderation of Area 51 any more labour intensive.

With regards to the iGivers, there has already been at least two people that have requested their names be removed from the H.O.F/100 iGiver club, not because they agree with the little campaign that a certain few are trying to ignite, but because they are disgusted at their fellow club colleagues and the insinuation that those on that list are collectors or unethical individuals. Whether people see it as a race/challenge to get their names on that list or not - those that generously give their invites should be recognised for their kindness and goodwill. So unless you can come up with a viable alternative to what we have, quit your belly aching.

I probably expressed myself wrong, because even some of the data is available from open tracker checkers it's still an impossible amount of workload.

I don't know maybe it seems like I'm jealous of the leaders of this club, but I actually extremely appreciate their work and am 'friends' with some of them and currently got insight the tricks of safe inviting from one of them.

There are no "leaders" - there are just generous individuals. That is where YOUR perception is wrong, you see it as a leader board, I see it as a list of extremely generous people, perhaps you should change the way you view the thread in question. As for safe inviting, there is no such thing, every invite/bonus given comes with risks, you simply just have to know how to minimise them.

    I second what JamesG said.
iGivers are not used in any calulations on the site that i know of.
if anything just make sure they put the invites for open trackers in the right thread.

I can hardly put this better than has already been said. This shouldn't be about some kind of leader board or competition. It should be all about recognizing the very generous people who go out of their way to help others out.

The OP had a good idea and is exactly one of those generous invitors that has contributed much to this community. And it doesn't make sense to ask for invites to an open tracker. But trying to enforce a rule about that is simply unworkable. It would be a nightmare to enforce. The bottom line is that invitees have to take some responsibility for making good choices and ultimately the invitor can do as he wishes with their invites (other than trading).

Those who would turn this into a competition don't really have anyone's best interests at heart, other than their own. Is it so hard for us to simply say thank you to the many generous people around here? Instead of figuring out ways to inflate igiver numbers or get onto a leader board.. why don't we simply take a moment to appreciate those generous members? If you ask me what is great about TI, I would tell you it's the people here. And they certainly deserve our thanks.

Who started to make this about the igiver club again?

Since when is a list of names sorted by their igivers in descending order not a leaderboard? Maybe I miss something here.

The expression 'leader of the igiver club' came not from me, but from a now ex member of this club.
I think without a competition most of these guys would have already stopped giving away so many invites due to lack of motivation.
Competition is what makes us better and also gives most of use motivation ...

    Just my 2 cents

Okay, this seems to be straying from the OP.

As stated before, no, this will not be implemented as it will be too difficult to manage. Enforcing such a rule is virtually impossible with the number of open trackers available. Even if this is implemented it will lead to further confusion and I could already see the excess amount of reports staff will have to deal with.

Closed. Thanks for the suggestion. Cheers!
