    Default Suggestion on giveaways.

I feel the rules should be changed when giving away invites. I think it should include

    -Speed Test
-Ratio Proofs ( 1-3 depending on the tracker) (Only stat proof of your torrent client for your first tracker)
    - two letters of reference from two members of rank 33% or higher vouching for the individual.
    - one Statproof of torrent client or seedbox or both

The reasoning behind the stat proof is quite simple.

With a stat proof and ratio proofs we can determine by simple math and logic whether the person is cheating. Not always mind you but if the person is cheating they will have very little upload and download compared to their ratio proofs.

The reasoning behind the two letters of reference is simple.

A lot of people come into T-I and buy ViP just to get FtN or some really exclusive tracker. As much as I would love to giveaway this poses a problem. If we invite a person that is a trader that enitre persons invite tree gets banned meaning not only does he get banned bu every person he inivted and ever person before him. Its harsh but its the truth. We need to take measures to protect ourselves and the people that trusted us enough to invite us.

    - We do not know these people and so could be a Trader/cheater.
    - I feel that people need to get to know the people in this community before they should get invites. It will weed out some of the undesirables because most people are a fairly good judge of character.
-It promotes IRC activity and Forum activity and ecourages to make friends and such.

    Pros:
    -Weed out possible traders/cheaters
    -IRC activity and forum activity.
-Promotes making friends and could bring this community closer together.

    CONS:
-possible slow down in people donating.
    -less igivers

As you can see the cons are not that bad. I feel its the quality of the person that makes this community great and these measures could ensure that we keep up that standard of quality.

    Just a thought.

    This is fantastic
    1) This would also take this TI community to a whole other level and exclusivity,
    2) weeding out unwanted members but as you point out donate levels would go down
    3) quality over quantity

    BUT

    4) Would leave genuine new members hardship to get into a community, especially when they have to references.
4A) Some do not have trackers to provide
    5) That's why there is a VIP section that non-VIP cannot enter, you have a exclusive part already.'
5A) This would be hard to transcend especially trying to weed people out.
    6) The new user rank system was put into the system for what your saying, which is great and HARD to achieve if your a cheater/trader.
    7) New users cannot provide the requirement
    8) every user is entitled to their own rules to their own invites, cannot enforce unless initial rules are changed, but there is no need

    Conclusion

Good for future system idea to make the enterance to the community exclusive
Very hard transition to a system like this

True but I got my first tracker just by getting to know people. in under two weeks I had a ton of friends and i am pretty sure like most of them would vouche for me. It is not that hard as it seems. :P

For my first tracker I didn't require a ratio proof just a stat proof from tixati.

I think having new members get involved in IRC as a requirement is good. TI has been moving in the right direction lately if you ask me. User groups are harder to achiever, different VIP statuses. I think what you are proposing is maybe a little bit over the top for this stage in TI's life, But I understand your concern. I think maybe in general everyone just needs to do a little bit more research before handing out invites. I know this puts more obligation on the giver, but it is your invite, if your truly that concerned, just say no.

Requirements are entirely up to the person giving out the invite, and that is not going to change. You are welcome to look at a person's tracker stats just make sure you do that via pm. With regards to letters of reference, I do not think this is practical. You can view a person's history here on T-I, and determine if they have a good record or not.

It is not a perfect system, and there is always an element of risk when you give an invite, it is impossible to remove that risk entirely, but the more important a tracker is to you personally, the more careful you should be when giving away invites. In my experience the benefits of T-I outweigh the risk hundreds to one.

There must be something in the water, so many suggestions regarding the giving of invites lately...

I like the idea of having a minimum requirement for all GA's, but reference letters are a little too far me thinks. It would end up going one of two ways, either it would be really easy to get the letters you require or nobody would vouch for you at all. Most people here do research their invitees before giving invites to such places as FTN, or any other high level tracker, those that don't sometimes suffer the consequences, yes its sad but unfortunately thats the way it goes.

    Blanket Statement:
There are many threads regarding the giving/requesting of invites and the concerns attached to such activities. The same answer is given EVERY time - They are YOUR invites, you give them to whom you please, YOU are responsible for the people you invite, YOU are responsible for checking them out, it is YOUR invite tree, YOUR account at risk if you don't.

I am completely behind this idea. In the past few months, i had so many bad lucks inviting ppl here and I got into real problem about my trackers which i really care about. I almost lost one of my main tracker due to the invting a trader!!! (which i really had no idea even after chicking his background) and lost my invite privilage and got banned all my invite tree (which really sucks as i had several good invitees 2:()

Anyway, I will stop giving away any invite to high level trackers to avoid any further problem unless there will be more insurance about not being in trouble after inviting a user.

As TG said, they are your invites and you can ask for whatever requirements you like. There is no need to add this to the rules and force people to do something they dont want to do when giving away their own invites.

I have a just ask giveaway for a certain tracker I dont like and I wouldbe really pissed if the requirements were in the rules and I was forced to ask for ratio proofs/speedtests etc.

EDIT: Thread re-opened. I'm not sure if I closed it by mistake when I posted, or another member of staff closed it. If someone else closed it then feel free to re-close but remember to post when you do so so we know who closed it

I am truly sorry to hear about your tracker Goldstone, but I fail to see what exactly you expect us to do. We could turn this forum into an invite only place, and we would still get traders/cheats through the door. You could go to IRC interviews with reference letters from 5 different trackers/members and you would still get traders/sellers through the doors.

As I have explained on so many occasions previously - It is IMPOSSIBLE to guarantee 100% that you invitee is not a trader/cheater/seller. We have had former members here that have been high in the ranks only for them to reveal their true colours later, these people were classed as trusted members of our community and they had many friends here and yet, they were discovered for what they really were. T-I can give NO insurances with regards to invitees, we can only advise and put in place certain measures to try and limit your exposure to the "bad" ones. We will however "educate" those that break or bend our rules, but as for what the trackers do to you - that's up to them, we have no say in what they decide.

I like all ideas about taking measures to protect against cheaters/traders, but have to agree with it being up to each individual inviter.

Just one question about the statistics proof of the seedbox; I have noticed that the statistics for, for instance Rutorrent resetting itself if the client freezes or when it's restarted. Will it require special plugins to be installed to be able to give accurate stat proofs?
