Thread: covering ratio proofs stats

I've been browsing the forum for a few days now and noticed a lot of ratio proof screenies that reveal more than they should.

More than half of the screenies I saw exposes the member in question without a problem.

I don't think that leaving the amount of GB uploaded and download is a good idea.. I mean on any given private community, how many members have uploaded exactly 312.XX GB and downloaded exactly 32.XX GB ? I bet that just 1, even if they have 100,000 members.

If a moderator from any private tracker looked around here, I bet they could identify hundreds.



I suggest that the rules be a bit more secure, if maximum privacy is a concern for this board.

...anyways, being not cautious with your personal info makes you an idiot (i'm generalizing, not attacking lococo). why do we have to pull you away from the railway when you are admiring the train moving towards you


since i'm an expert on ratio proofs (self titled :P), here are some common mistakes:

screenshots taken from profile page = too much personal data (browsers tabs/menu bar/OS tab/userID aka profile link in the URL etc.)
usernames exposed (c'mon, your a member of a tracker and you STILL are not clear where all the stats are? )
exact download+upload stats with the server time (dunno if the tracker staff could view their userbase stats like that)

Partially cover your ratio, download and upload stats so that only the first digit is visible

It's their own fault if they expose too much and don't follow the rules. The Area 51 mods and all the others do the best they can to remove those proofs.
The only thing the regular user can do is to report such posts.

Again, I don't think that's enough privacy.

OK let me try it differently.

Let's say my stats are the following:
UL: 421.55 GB DL: 66.21 GB Ratio: 6.36

Which numbers would you censor if you wanted to comply with the rules?

You cover the 55 of UL, the 21 of DL and the 36 of Ratio.

If you see proofs like that, report it with this button. Staff will appreciate it and with enough good reporting you may be rewarded with some rep so you can advance!

Your properly edited proof should look like this: 4xxxxxGB DL: 6xxxxxGB Ratio: 6.xxxx
You can edit it so you can still see the decimal point though.

Some inviters allow you to PM you the proofs, but if you edit the proofs properly you shouldn't have any problems.

Als keep in mind that this forum respects tracker rules.

Out of 100,000 members, how many members do you think uploaded exactly 421 some GBs and downloaded exactly 66 some GBs?

Maybe the rule needs to be more specific by adding an example like we did above.
