Thread: VIP + xx%

This is my first suggestion in a long time :) I see that there are happening changes to the VIP userclass, and my suggestion may be a part of those changes, but if not, this would be a perfect time to implement it if approved.



So what i really want to suggest is a forum where you have to be VIP AND meet the reqs for 75%/99%. Manual promotion by staff should also be allowed. Point is, that this should be a forum where only a very trusted group of members get in, and where at least I would feel a lot safer to give away invites in, as anyone could pay a slump of money to see what is going on in all the forums except exalted (and staff obviously).

Would like all kinds of constructive feedback + different versions of my suggestion.

hey Majornil, i really like your suggestion :) and honestly think it is a good idea!, the difficult part would be though the requirements should be very thorough!
i really can't suggest anything further and hope your suggestion gets accepted:)

How about only opening up VIP status donation after 33%?.. I realized, that is a good entry level for an "proven" member. This is also the stage that will deters " lazy" newbies that doesn't read, search, help, contributes enough here. Once a newbie get past 33%, he/she will probably shown enough of their involvement and character here..hopefully..

This might impact the inflow of $$ in short term but it might be a good way to control in long term...

Another suggestion, is better perks or acknowledgement for Donors. This batch of members I feel is the true right from the heart contributors.

In my case, everyday since signing up here, I was so tempted by the VIP donation but refused to do it before my 33% because I just do not wish to be complacent.
If you run a check against all the donors here, you will realized that a good % of those are all the real people that make this place happening...

If you are going to make a trusted class or senior class or whatever you want to call it.. I think that the bar should be set as high as possible. I'd suggest VIP + election by staff only. In other words VIP + acknowledgement by staff that you're a valuable asset to T-I. But I guess that almost it makes it a junior exalted class of sorts and I can imagine the hate mail already just for suggesting this.

Nevertheless, if this new class is to have real value it should at least reflect that the members have been here a while, been involved in the community and are something of a known quantity. It should be a class that we have to work or aspire towards. So I'm thinking VIP and complete+. Or perhaps VIP and 99%+. Staff could manually promote someone into this new "trusted" class if they are at 33 or 55% and merit the promotion. If you set the bar lower any lower, what is the point of making a new class? Then it would just duplicate the situation of a VIP member in the existing 33 or 55% GA forums.

I like to keep things nice and simple and having too many classes and subforums is just making things more complicated.

There are always a lot of newbies who are confused by the site, because it has too many rules, in their opinions, and a lot of other confusing things. Different userclasses and their requirements are an example for that.

I have seen some giveaways, especially lately, that require a certain amount of igivers, posts, or time of membership to be allowed to apply and I think that's the way to you. I'm not a VIP member neither am 99%/100% yet, but if you want to post your giveaway in the VIP section you can do that and it's pretty irrelevant if someone who bought the VIP membership can also read the thread or not? They can't apply for it.

I think this can easily be resolved by specifying your requirements.

While I think the suggestion is good, I agree with Magister. Moreover, as it is now, getting access to the elite forum (which I have never seen by the way, but it sounds fancy ;)) by only donating, is a very good incentive for "lazy" people to actually donate. A lot of trackers also allow "lazy" people to do well, i.e. by buying upload credits, bonus points etc, so at least there is some merit with these kinds of members. Although personally I wouldn't give away invites to my most cherished trackers to these people without them actually having proved themselves outside of donating.

simpler is better - let's destroy the VIP giveaway as we know it by giving 99% + members access to it also. the requirement for 99% is 500 posts which, in my opinion, is more valuable than a VIP title. In those 500 posts, you have left an aura behind you but VIP...well, throwing money away doesn't mean you know how to manage your ratio on a brutally hardcore tracker, unless you cough up MORE money for the seedbox (maybe even a VPN). and whenever you get into financial difficulties, your card house will come tumbling down

though, knowing that there will be 8 levels of VIPs, i have no idea what their differences are and how they're going to blend/interfere with the plot we are running

majornil I like your suggestion as that has always been my mentality in giving out invites commitment and time on the site not a title good idea
