Thread: about a chatbox...

Hello everyone. I don't know is it me only, but there is some kind of a "problem" with chat. Maybe it's ok for all of you, but for me is kind a annoying. Here's the thing...

You see, when nobody is chatting it looks like this:



Ass you see, it's a small rectangle, and it doesn't take so much space on forum.

And in that case, bottom of the page looks like this:





In one word, when no one is chatting, the forum looks great.

But, the problem appears when users become active on chatbox, like this:



Then, the rectangle is growing, and as it is growing, the whole right side of the forum is moving down, and there appears emptiness on the center and left side. You can see what I'm talking about on the following pictures:





And if I start chatting with someone, and we type a lot, I must scroll the whole page up to see what were we talking about, and that rectangle can go down indefinitely. So, to improve chatting, my suggestion is, if you can make scrollbar inside chatbox (or install new one with scrollbar), so those issues don't appear. Something like this one (not exactly that, surely with different colors, suited to the forum, and without a few things, but to have that scrollbar on the right side, so when I want to see earlier messages in chatbox, I just scroll inside it, not the whole page):



As I said, maybe it's problem with me. With my computer, or with my internet browser, but if it isn't, I think it would be nice to fix this.

I take your point, but I actually like the current behaviour where we have an expanded window, rather than scroll bars.
In any event the chat window can be minimized if someone doesn't want to see it.

Just refresh your page it would turn small again:D

I know, but that's not a point.

you know, i've never even seen people use the chatbox and that may be because that doesn't happen to me. i like the chatbox with the scroll. it's like getting the best of both worlds.

Yep... i'm just saying... it's much practical with the scroll... I haven't seen anywhere this type (except here ofcourse)...
