    Default Any way to disable the PM notification in chatbox

    I don't know if it's just me, but the pm notifications in the chatbox are huge! it only takes a few to erase everything (and there's no way to scroll up in the chatbox). I feel like it's a little bit redundant to have it notify you there, since most people would see the (1) at the top or get a popup if they have that enabled. Any opinions?

    They really are huge, if you send a PM and recieve a reply, then nearly all the chatbox is gone!

    i just noticed this annoying characteristic of the chatbox. seeing that the chatbox is a public feature (for the members of the site), are notifications of my PMs available to be seen by all users?
    even if they are not, this just appears to be a redundant feature. the PM notification on the top 'user menu bar' is available on every page, even if one scrolls down. it is, therefore, much more useful than the chatbox notification, which one will notice only when browsing the home page.
    my vote goes for removing this feature.

    Only you will see who you sent a PM to and vice-versa, but I do agree that it's very big and only one conversation via PM is needed for the chatbox to be full. On the other hand if you leave the home forum page open the chatbox will begin to expand itself.

    I think the best option would be if you can choose either way, because sometimes it is a nice feature to have.

    I also say we should get rid of them. A scroll feature on the chatbox would also be a great addition.

    edit: oh! i saw the home page instead of the forums page :P
    the 'feature' is still there. but Magister's explanation does take away my worry, which was mainly about privacy.
