Default Variable Reputation (choose how much rep to give)

Allow users to choose how much rep to give, up to the max amount of a "full rep".

With the thanks button gone, the option to rep members a little bit for a good, but not great/awesome post doesnt exist. This is more problematic for the more active members with higher reps.

There are mods available that allow for this & many questions regarding custom modifications are answered in the discussion thread:

I was actually thinking about this the other day, it is obvious that the members with more rep should have a better understanding of what is a Rep-worthy post, but may be hesitant to rep something knowing that their rep will add a larger amount than they feel is appropriate. At the very least options for simple amounts would be good. Something like three choices: 1 point of rep, half rep-power, full rep . . . that would give a little more play than the current system of all or nothing.

As I recall, this was already a suggestion. I think it got approved, they just can't do it because they need a plugin for it.

Idk, maybe I dreamed that I saw it? 0.o

In any case I am for it 100%

    what Bandersnatch said...
it's been suggested many times before and the response is always the same "there isn't a plugin for vB.4"

+2 votes from me (one extra because i'm super cool) :-D

well if I am not mistaken everyones rep power was nerf to compensate for the loss of the thank button so no member has super rep power anymore

yeah but if you were to rep some one it is probably like 15 your rep power which is nothing compared to that before the nerf I was close to 200

TIL 'nerf' means 'weaken'. Had to look that up cause i didn't understand shadowbuild - but I figured it didn't have anything to do with the NERF brand, which I also just learned stands for Non-Expanding Recreational Foam... personally, I think ERF would be more fun

Just thought I'd post that in case anybody else was in the same boat as me.

Yea, but for most members that have been around for awhile, its still the equivalent of several or more thanks, which may often be more than someone wants to rep someone else for a post.

Also, since people are so used to clicking the thanks button, and being conservative with the rep button -- well, humans are creature of habit. Even for myself, I find myself often thinking that "I will use the rep button more often", but I usually just end up clicking the like button. I would probably have to put a little sticky note up reminding myself to change the habit, but thats far too much hassle.
