Heya, can we keep old reviews in the tracker reviews section? It seems like it would be a great reference, and the comments are still valuable. If not in the index, at least in the thread listing, which can be sortable by title.

I very much approve of this.

I agree. I think we should make a subforum for the older ones and whenever a newer one has come out, stick the old one over there. And I think, in addition, the moderators who are moving the old reviews over should delete all the dead image links too. All the tinypic "This image is deleted" pictures are quite annoying...

The old reviews ( like 2008-2009 ) were not perma deleted... they're still there. The posts ( you've mentioned ) in the old reviews might be quite useless at this point, since most of the trackers out there went through major changes, added new stuff, changed designs ... improved themselves along the time. So those posts that praised a tracker back in 2008 might be irrelevant now. An idea would be to merge the posts from let's say 2008's IPT review with the 2010/ 2011 one... but even that is useless... most of the posts made are either spam posts, or close to that ( clever-spam posts :)) ) praising the tracker or not. The "this image was deleted" thing with tinypic is because of their stupid system... i would know this from my experience with tinypic. The best way to escape would be to re-upload the pictures using a different image host ( chosen from the ones that T-I approves of ). You can help with this, by communicating with the Help Desk Mods and if you are a member of a tracker that has that kind of a problem with the review, you can hand them to the HD Mods. Together we can solve this.

Thanks, glad to hear that they are still there. Some of the reason is for nostalgia, to see what has happened over time. I really don't care about the pictures, if it's blocked then it is blocked. Nothing you can do about it, besides posting new ones, and I can find those on a newer review of the tracker.

I would not want the comments to be merged, that would be awkward. If it would be possible to just list them all in "T-I>The Help Desk>Tracker Reviews>" that would be great. If someone really wanted, the index could be updated as well, but that might take more work.

    Cheers.

--- it seems that the nostalgia would be the only "valid" ( if ) reason for this. But, instead of creating a new sub-forum for the old reviews and even more - because not all the trackers really deserve this/ or any special attention, i would suggest this:

why not make a thread with the most important trackers ( dead or alive ) out there that meant something for the BT community ( like an homage or something like that ), and you can post pictures and the changes the tracker went through ( the major ones ). This would feed anyone's nostalgia :))

Well that would be cool too, but who decides which ones are 'cool' enough? I think just a subforum would be better. A general archive. A thread like this would be neat, but it would be more helpful to have all of them, and not just the ones that are good trackers. An example would be AO. Let's face it, AO ain't the best tracker out there. It could be in a few years though. But in a few years, the 2011 tracker reviews thought AO sucked, so we didn't use them. Now people want to see older ones, and they're gone D:

--- i don't think choosing those trackers would be hard. I don't think people will want the old reviews for trackers like FatalTracker, SceneAxx, ZoneTeam, rDs-Zone.ro or other of those little, unheard of trackers. But then reviving the old reviews would save everyone the effort of creating a new thread, searching for older reviews, older screenshots and stuff like that. Like i said before, maybe it's too much, or not enough... but i don't really see a point here. Maybe others have other suggestions/ ideas

I don't think it's a bad idea, it wouldn't create much work to jump make them accessible. I assume we would close all of the threads as well, i.e. they would just be accessible for reference.

Of course it would still be nice to have a thread where people post old screenshots next to new ones, to show how trackers have evolved. Members here would need access to the old reviews to do this. But the old reviews are likely missing even more screenshots than the new ones.
