Possibility to change the thread title?

I just recently learned that there is no way of changing the thread title anywhere when editing a post. Indeed, there is the option to change the text displayed where it says "Title:", but that just changes the title, or topic, inside the thread, and not actually in the forum. Was this feature left out by mistake, or was it done intentionally?

An option of this kind is especially useful when dealing with giveaways. As soon someone gives an invitation away, the thread title could be changed and kept up-to-date with its contents.

You could also add a note to say a giveaway is over ... save wasting everybody's time

this would also help for people in the request threads who list the sites they want in the title. this way if they get one of the invites on the list they would take it off the title

This is what I thought was the strongest argument for adding the edit title feature. Without it, people may create new threads, and after a while if the moderators do not have the energy to search for and delete old threads, there will be a build-up of leftovers. Overall, this issue seems to have been on other peoples' minds as well.

One feature I did not expect to see the possibility to lock one own's thread, which is great. It can not be deleted, though, can it?
