Default College Football: BCS or Playoff

Do you like the current BCS system for college football or do you support a switch to a playoff system? Tell us what you think

I support a playoff system for many reasons. Here's one Until we have a playoff system teams like TCU and Boise ST(until friday night...WOW) will continually argue that they deserve to go to the national championship game because they go undfeated in a weak conference, while a one-loss big ten or sec team play tough games week after week gets shut out of the game.

With a playoff system we could see how good the non-aq teams really are and at the same time give some of the one-loss aq teams a chance to redeem themselves for a loss to a strong opponent.

Do you support the idea of a playoff system in div-1 college football?
If it were up to you, How would you implement a playoff system?

    Just Asking

    I want playoff.
I do agree that TCU has a weak confrence, but due to that status we will never know if they were a GREAT team. Them being 3 will keep them agaisnt one of the big dogs, but with a playoff we would know.

I dont know why NCAA doesnt get on this, I mean it an extra 2 bowl games that will generate HUGE cash, both marketing and for the schools.
    I just dont get it!

I'm Portuguese, but I really footbal, and soccer too. I think that playoff is way better than the actual bcs system. With playoff we would see if non-aq team are really good and deserve or not to play the championship game. One bad game happens to every team in the world, no one is unbeatable so i think that playoffs would be better.

Well, first of all you have to realize that a playoff will probably never happen because there is too much money to be made on the bowl system. I think it would be a good idea to make the five BCS games into a playoff system so that the sponsors get to keep making their money and the fans get a legit national champion. You probably wouldn't have any of these people (Boise St.) complaining that they should have had a shot at the national championship if they couldn't even make the top 10.

Yes the whole BCS system is a sham. It is a big money generating scheme for the creator of the system as well as the colleges involve. The BCS system also make it easier for some college to recruit because they went to a bowl game although the majority are crap!

Basically the people benefiting from the BCS will never want a playoff type of system. Only the true fan that want a competitive and fair system will pick a playoff system.

Most will agree that the BCS is a POS, however the other question develops as to how many games is reasonable for a playoff system. Take top 4, 8..???? Just do a plus 1 perhaps?

Every other college sport at every level has some type of playoff system, this is the only exception, so at the very least any argument that says it can't work doesn't fly

Ideally the nonAQ conferences would get together and form a playoff. Once one of them is crowned the actual NCAA champion, some of the bigger teams will fall in line, and the networks will find they'll get just as much money from a playoff.
