Default A Football Referee willing to give his "Expert" Opinion.

    Hello guys,

I am a football referee with my countries Football Assosiation and have nearly 4 years experience of refereeing in Irish leagues at many levels.

This thread is mainly motiviated by the Ghana Aussie match and the guys complaining about the referees.
Also the standard of refereeing the tournament is also quite poor to be honest in some cases.

Please ask questions about why a decision was made, whether i believe the referee has done a good job and what sort of card should be issued.

And any other questions connected to the Laws of the Game.

Any questions guys please dont hestitate to post even link youtube links where i can inspect the incident and give my 2 cents.

Now you all have a referee to vent your nationalistic anger at hahaha.

I look forward to your replies,I really should of started this at the start of the WC but completely forgot to.

In Germany - Serbia, the 2 yellow card for Klose. In my opinion it was a stupid fault, yes, but to give him the second yellow card for that fault I think was to much. What is your opinion about this?

what is your idea about the switzerland's goal against spain?

because the swiss fouled against piqué first, and he fell down and blocked casillas' way.

@fichirichi I only saw the second half of the Germany game as i was at school but the general standard of refereeing by this referee was below par.The problem with that referee was that he lacked continuity in the game, the thing players want to see in the game if one player gets a yellow for a bad tackle then an opposing player should get one too if he performs a similar tackle.
In this referees case he went booking people for anything in the first half but then didnt book people for actual bookable offences in the game.
The referee was poor and i doubt he will be given another game,I didnt see the Klose bookings if you have a video clip i can take a look but from the highlights i saw and the second half the referee has a lot to answer for.

Spain have to said "thanks" because Casillas fault a swiss player and the referee don't stop the game to show red card for Casillas and penalty to Switzerland. This is my opinion.

Personally i think the goal should of stood.Casillas was lucky the goal went in or he would of been getting an early bath aswell,he came out with two feet and as we saw with the South Africa goalkeeper it ended it a red card for him.

Pique got a boot in the head for his trouble in the incident but it was a clear goalscoring opportunity and both the defender and Pique were pulling at each other and so forth,I think it would of been unfair to give a free kick to Spain for it.
Im trying to re run the whole incident in my head but the fact is really the incident never should have happened if it wasn't for clumpy Spanish defending.
I dont think that Pique blocking casillas was a cause for a foul,Casillas came out wildly in the first place which caused most of the problems for pique.

so that means casillas should have stayed in the goal while pique
can try to clear out the ball, is that right?

i watched the HL on youtube again, casillas' action is very wild though he got the ball first (probably).

anyway, the score cannot be changed. and Honduras is not a paper tiger.

This is the best clip i can find of it mate.

Casillas's wild tackle is what caused the whole incident surely we cannot blame fernandes for being thrown in the air and hitting pique.
Casillas should of came with his hands and his challenge was two footed which is banned if he gets the ball or not and i dont think he gets enough on it to say he got the ball.

Then he rashly slides in with two feet to try prevent fernandes's shot going in.
This whole segment shows Casillas's wrecklessness as the cause of the problems not Fernandes.

The goal should definately stand you are going to get cuts and bruised its football but if anything it would of been a penalty and a red card for Casillas if the goal hadnt been scored so count your lucky stars he put it away.

The first yellow card i dont believe was a yellow card but should of been a warning it seemed to be accidental from Klose and he was unlucky to get booked.

The second was a yellow card,He made a late challenge from behind and didnt touch the ball.He definately took down the player in a poor manor and therefore it was a yellow.

But my question is why did Klose go in for such a challenge whilst having a yellow card it was completely mistimed and didnt get the ball.
A referee cannot say well he already has a yellow i cant send him off for that.
The individual decision was a yellow card and therefore it had to be issued but as for the first one i dont think so.

It's really Klose's fault that he went into a stupid tackle after being booked but he shouldnt of been originally booked. You still have to play with the hand that is dealt to you and he certainly didnt with that late challenge
