Thread: Serbia vs Ghana

I just saw the most boring game match of Fifa 2010
Guys I watched the entire match and got to some conclusion
1)Ghana players were playing physically and not technically (skillfully) but managed to win due to that unfortunate penalty
2)Serbian players were passing the ball in air for maximum time instead of ground passing
Anyway good luck for serbia for furture matches

Penalty Decision by the refry was a shitty one..and coz of that Ghana managed to win...
But was a boring match .. yuk

I have to disagree with you coz the Serbian player hand on the ball was fully and fully visible and it had to be a penalty. So no shity decision by the Ref IMO.

As a defender, you don't put put your hands in the air when making a challenge. If you watch the replay the serbian player clearly deviates the path of the ball with his hand from a Ghana player coming in on the ball, that will always be a penalty, gotta keep them paws by your body.

I agree entirely. I was a referee for a few years and while you hate to give that penalty, it absolutely must be given. The rule states that there are only 2 exceptions to the direct free kick being given when a player handles the ball. One is if it is an instinctive move to protect himself and the other is if the ball hit the players arm while the arm was in a natural playing position (i.e. the ball played the hand instead of the hand playing the ball). In this situation, its very obvious that neither of those 2 apply. It sucks for Serbia, but its a lesson that every grade school kid should have learned... putting yourself in that position will never end well for your team.

This is the essence of my biggest problem with football in general - there seems to be a higher than normal frequency of this situation, where an each way marginal call by the referee decides the outcome of the match.... makes it frustrating to watch a 90 minute game.

hey it is what it is if you play dirty and break the rules you must be penalized thats it no excuse and you do not have to agree with the decision but we are talking about professional athletes they know the rules they just like to push the envelope this time it caught up with them and it cause the team the game so be it fair call
