Hey everyone I'm 22 years old, and have been a Brett Favre fan since I was like 6. I've been a huge favre fan/supporter pretty much my entire life and I do believe he is the greatest to ever play the game. There is something about him that radiates onto his teammates that I've never seen in another quarterback. He's a 3-time MVP and has been to the superbowl twice, won once (maybe a third pending this year). He's 40-years old and statistically just had the best season of his career. Another dominant performance today by him and the vikings have matched them up against the saints in the NFC championship game. So I ask you, do you think he is the greatest quarterback of all time? Why/why not, if not who do you think is.

I'd also like to add that I was EXTREMELY dissapointed with the way the packers handled the retirement/coming back situation 2 years ago....I was an avid packer fan untill they pretty much F**ked him hard. Since then I've been rooting for whatever team favre is on (jets then vikes). Because of ted thompson and his dumbass moves I will never root for the packers again. His incompetance has made one of the biggest packer fans actually root for thier biggest rivals. I know some people will frown upon/criticize this but seriously...I've only known one quarterback of the packers and that was favre, it maybe a different story if I was older but I'm not and favre is my favorite player. You don't trade away possibly the greatest quarterback of all time because you want to give your quarterback in waiting a chance...he could have sat 2 more years and noone would have cared but him.

After N.O destroys him next week he will retire for good. I used to have a ton of respect for the guy but over the past few years, not so much.

I do think Brett Favre is one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game, however, i dont think he is the best. I can name two other guys. who are still playing right now, i think are better. Then maybe two retired guys who are right up there with all of them as well. This is just a matter of opinion though cause any of the quarterbacks im thinking of and Brett all could be # 1 in others opinions.

Honestly, what i dont like about Brett is all the interceptions he threw in his past and thats the only reason why he's not my # 1. Just like Dan "the man" Marino wouldnt be #1 cause of the no Super Bowl victories, imo. This years an exception for Brett though. He's been playing like a #1 for the first time since his Super Bowl days in Green Bay. I love to watch him this year and for the first time in awhile i havent seen him make them dumb throws like he did in the past. Well, he's still just throwing the ball up, but his receivers are coming down with it and not the opposition.

If he wins the Super Bowl this year then i can say its a valid argument that he's #1 hands down, but anything less and he's just in that top 5 of mine still. It is remarkable that he's still playing at the level he is at the age of 40, but he needs to win to be at the top all alone. There will never be any argument if that happens, but anything short there will always be the argument of "who is the best quarterback ever to play the game" Till then we will see, but i feel he's not the best yet.

Why did you lose respect for him ehnspire? Because the packers refused to bring him back as their quarterback? Guys flip flop on retiring all the time and guess what..favre said he wanted to come back BEFORE the season even started. PLENTY of notice. Not to mention the vikings pretty much begged him to come play for them...non of this was his fault imho.

I'd also like to add that favre is 3 TD's away from tying joe montanas all time post season td record. And to your point mike.. I do agree that him winning the superbowl this year would at least solidify his position in the top 3 quarterbacks of all time (#1 imo.) As it would be his 2nd Sbowl victory, and hed most likely have the most post season td's of all time.

Also I forgot to add since he was the starting quarterback for Green Bay he has NEVER MISSED A GAME. He has the most consecutive starts for a QB..A record that will never be broken...You'd be hard pressed to find any non-kicker that comes even close to sniffing that record. Even on the weekend of his dads death he decided to play and ended up playing his best regular season game of his career. A truely inspiring performance.

Even though he is at that age most players would call it quits, I think only he could know if hes able to continue or not. imo I think he has enough skills to continue...if my memory is correct, he has taken all the teams he's played for after Green Bay to the Playoffs. Lets just hope hes physically fit to play another year...he seems to be a really nice guy!

Favre a great QB? Sure. The best ever? No. Favre is an amazing QB. He the ability to make some amazing plays. He also has a persona that people tend to connect with. But, he isn't the best. He's a gunslinger for better or worse. He has far, far too many ints. While it's great that he's not scared to go for the win, he might have lost many games by being far too aggressive. Here are some other QBs to consider: Marino, Montana, Elway, Manning, Brady, and maybe the discussion for Brees can start. And that list is missing these:

    Steve Young
    Joe Namath
    Bart Starr
    Dan Fouts
    Joe Theisman
    Len Dawson
    Bob Griese
    Roger Staubach
    Troy Aikman
    Terry Bradshaw
    Phil Simms
    Jim Kelly

I don't think that Favre is the best QB ever. IF you look at the numbers, he does hold some important records, but he does not look eloquent on the field (for what that's worth). He simply seems to force passes sometimes instead of using finesse which causes many interceptions, a record he also holds. For this reason I would rank Brady and Marino ahead of Favre, because at the end of the day, I would rather have them throwing to me than Favre.

He is a good QB, no doubt about that. But i would say that he's not the best. He is in my top 5, but Payton Manning is better in my book.

I wouldn't call Favre the greatest QB ever, in my opinion that would be Manning. However, I would say Favre is probably the toughest QB ever.
