You have a HUGE MMA Fan here. Have two buddies Eliot Marshall (UFC), and Tyler Toner (WEC), that fight. Have been watching MMA for years growing up with Tyler. One of the best sports in my opinion. Its awesome how the sport has progressed over the years, before you would never hear the crowd cheer from a takedown, or an escaped submission attempt, etc...But now you hear it. Its great that the general public is starting to pay attention to the technical aspects of the sport as well as the straight forward parts of it. Hopefully Zuffa/UFC will decide to absorb the WEC Featherweight division into the UFC so that they can further progress the sport, its really a shame what the WEC pays compared to the UFC especially since they are both owned by Zuffa. This way the UFC can put on more exciting cards throughout the year instead of the two or three that they have now that are rather boring. Plus Featherweights are REALLY exciting to watch!
Watching Jose Aldo take out Mike Thomas Brown was incredible. It's criminal to leave him in the WEC. They need to move these 45er's and 35'ers over to the UFC so they can become household names. Ah well. I'm just glad that I have the opportunity to watch such a talented group of fighters for free on Versus/TSN2.
I think this thread deserves a necro bump.
Anyone watched UFC 138? Quite entertaining fights, despite not the most technical ones, i never thought Che Mills would be that effective, and Barao certainly is someone to fear, beating Pickett the way he did was not something easy to do, specially for Pickett chin. Both fighters are very similar in my view, agressive with a ridiculously accurate timming to either deal a killer knee on the face or to mount on the back.
Now, Leben is slow, and certainly suffered a lot from the dehydratation to cut weight, Munoz could do anything he wanted with him, despite none of them having submission, kicks or elbows. A title shot for Munoz is too soon imo.
Abedi was crazy to take Pit Bull on his debut, and got what he deserved for a nobody thinking too high of himself.
The best fight to me though, was Diabate vs Perosh, beautifull jiu jitsu, and he actually worked to get a submission, unlike most fighters that only try when they see a clear opening for one.
Need some help in portuguese?

True, yea. I have been following UFC since it was born and Pride, well what happen there. Dana came in like the Hitler of mma and made everything his. We go to all the local events to support them and also all the grappeling matches they have. I also support the local gyms in the area that train MMA with time and other support. So am I a true fan...............?
You bet your ass.
And Joe Rogan has to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm looking forward to JDS vs Reem. I predict JDS by KO. Hendo vs Shogun was fight of the century. That was a great fight!
