Thread: Sports Players Overpaid

Sports Players i think are WAY overpaid. I used to like watching hockey, however now its just getting ridiculous. Baseball players getting 110 Million dollars for 4 year contracts? isn't that slightly outrageous, especially when the common working joe or jill can go and get a nosebleed seat for like 100 bucks (if were lucky)

I think part of the problem with the recession is Professional Sports Players.. Think about it? Because of the cost of watching them play sports, with the amounts that some of these players make. Its an interesting insight to say the least

The reason why they can afford to pay these players those prices is because people pay the ridiculous prices to go to games and buy the jerseys and all of that. If consumers cut back on how much they spent on sports then the salary would begin to reflect that.

The problem i have with baseball players are the pitchers.

The avg a game every 5 days. In a season thats about 27-30 starts. But i can live with a player getting a huge contract. As long as he performs up to it.

These prices do seem a bit ridiculous. Is one player really worth 100Mil? But remember, having a franchise player on your team brings in much more revenue. More tickets sales and other contracts for consumer products. Players also get endorsements with companies such as Nike, Gatorade, phone companies and so one. Don't forgot non-profit organizations to save even more on taxes.So really after 4 years you gain back that 100mil pretty easily.

they are not..they are receiving alot not only bec of their talent but also bec of their endorsement and hardwork

I think i remember an NBA player a few years back saying that he wants more money per year because he couldn't feed his kids on 10 mil. What a disgrace.

nobody needs to earn that kind of money. i think it is absurd.

Price of the tickets are high, but the we all go and in the best teams the stadium is often full. they probably could still raise the tickets and people still go.

It is ridiculous, and to top it off, nfl players don't want a salary cap next year! Not only is that ridiculous from the aspect of players not deserving absurd contracts, but if it happens, the richest teams will win every year, especially with football!

i think most definately...
both you've got to give it to them for their skills and their short career.. but then again... i still think it's too much..
