Thread: Guide: how to backup Utorrent and downgrade

A number of my trackers are forcing downgrades from version 2.0 back to 1.8.5 because of the way build 2 favors utorrent traffic.



But how can you downgrade without loosing all your seeds?

P.S. This is also a great process to go through when you install a new OS. It allows you to save all your seeds.


1) First find the old version at OldVersion.com

2) Download it to the utorrent folder. It is found here:

XP
C:\Documents and Settings\[USER]\Application Data\uTorrent

Vista/Win7
C:\Users\[USER]AppData\Roaming\uTorrent

3) Put the file in the folder.

4) Backup this folder. It contains all your .torrent files and upload/download stats

5) Run the .exe to downgrade to the older version and all your seeds will be preserved. You will also have the backup in case there is a problem.

For backing up before OS install just do step 4.
