    You can also check the task manager if your computer is slow and don't whant to restart it. You just press Ctrl+Alt+Del->precesses-> sort by memory use( this is the most used usualy) and close processes that u can aford to close.

    Hey mate, if you copy stuff from the internet you should cite the source. Not doing so is a bannable offense, so heads up.

    Also to add upon this, you can do all this configuration right within ccleaner. Makes it easier to either delete the entry all together or disable it.

    ccleaner -> tools -> startup

    Also make sure you don't have to many processes running at startup. You can see them by going to:

    Start -> Run -> msconfig -> Startup tab

    Here you can tick the startup programs.

    And for the real professionals (don't touch this if you don't know what you're doing):

    Start -> Run -> services.msc

    To enable/disable pretty much every process out there.

    Also while were on the subject of msconfig here's a little hint that should prove helpful.
    Go to the Boot tab and select Advanced options.
    If you have more than 1 processor, select how many you'd like to use on startup.
    I have 4 and using all of them speeds up the entire startup process significantly.

    Note: You can also press Ctrl + Alt + Del all at the same time will bring Task Manager.

    Note: Many viruses can disguise themselves as a process, on the other hand end a process can damage your system. If your not sure what process to end. Google that process to find out what it does and whether its vital.

    As an after though I'm a huge fan of clearing out my prefetch (windows xp and higher) files every so often. The windows prefetch is a component of memory management that speeds up the boot process and shortens the time startup programs take to load. The only issue is that when programs are deleted either from msconfig or totally these files are still in the prefetch .

    start -> run -> prefetch -> control + a (select all) -> delete all selected items -> reboot pc :)

    Thanks nitro. Added both and updated some typos as well as adding a little bit more to browsers
