You know, I tried to play a rar on it and it didn't work for me. Do you guys have any tricks for it? Is it because I'm using 7Z instead of winrar?

Would you mind sharing how you got it to work through ftp protocol? I also attempted, and it didn't work. :001_smile:

I've been using VLC for quite time and I didn't know about 80% of the tips. I especially like the one about playing rar files as a video. Totally awesome. No more need to extract and take up more space while seeding.

wow learning new things every day, used vlc for a long while now never really bothered checking what it "could" do hehe

You can stream through FTP, using this method.

Access your ftp using FF or IExplore.
ftp://blablabla.com/downloads for example.
Find the file you want to stream and copy the link location.

Open VLC.
Go to Media > Open Network Stream

Paste it in the Address spot. It should automatically change protocol to FTP.
Now you need to add your credentials (user and password).
Dont forget the : in between the user and pass, or the @ afterwards.
So it should look like this.

ftp://username:password@blablabla.com/downloads

Then hit play and hope for the best!
If it doesn't work, you most likely don't have the link right exactly.
Sometimes seedbox providers use symbolic links which can throw you off.
Just play with it and try to find the correct link. From then on you can be up and streaming in less than a minute.
