    going to use a lot the play from rars option.
    that's means i dont need to open any movie download.thats cool

    not streaming, i meant i physically downloaded it and started playing it. The resolution is good, but it gets choppy, jerks every second. I had no choice but to use another alternative - KMplayer

    Oh, ok, it happened to me when I streamed from a PC to the other due to the WiFi, I guess. Have you tried with other movies?

    The feature I use all the time is snapshot. It takes perfect screen caps of any video you are playing.

    other movies are fine, except for 1080p ones

    I was using VLC for playing files and don't know that it's a DVDripper

    Very neat. I love the .rar option. I wonder how it caches it for performance issues on large files (1080p)

    You can also capture anything that's playing on your screen, not just what's playing in VLC (ie webcam):

    Try as I might, I can't get it to download youtube videos, or even play them.

    Any suggestions?

    I was able to view and save the YouTube vids. The quality isn't that great, but that's expected. Jschro14, what version of VLC are you running? Try checking for updates and make sure you have the latest version (1.0.5) installed.
