i never knew it could play right from rars, thats actually really sweet. that means i can start watching a show as its downloading now. so amazing
All i want to know is if it's possible to do it from a server that requires SSL authentication.
I'm pretty sure I just need to use commands to specify the certificates but I havent quite been able to try yet :001_tongue:
Any idea on that?
The rest I can handle.
I can get it working just fine when its an open server.
EDIT: I got it working through the ftp protocol!

The prophecies speak of a legendary being. With virtue, and wisdom beyond comprehension.
Commanded by none, yet commended by the Gods. Possessing strength that would make Muhammad Ali cower.
He is the embodiment of swag, with infinitely more charm and allure than any mere mortal. He is...

this method is not working for youtube videos.7. Download YouTube and other online videos: First grab the URL of the YouTube video page. Now click on Media>Open Network stream. Paste the URL and click Play.
Once VLC starts streaming the video, click Tools>Codec Information and at the bottom of the window you will see a Location box. Copy the URL and paste it on your browser’s address bar. The browser will now download the file which you can save it to your hard disk. Alternatively, you can record the video. (See #2).
Thats great. Honestly I got so fed up of extracting RAR files (takes ages when im encoding at same time), that is probably the single most useful tip ive had in ages. Thanks
This is a nice tutorial. I never knew that vlc could do so many things.
