Default How To: Categorize Torrents by Tracker in Azureus

How To: Categorize Torrents by Tracker in Azureus
If you're like me, you probably have trouble remembering which torrents come from which tracker, and which torrents you need to pay extra special attention to because your ratio is getting too low. I just noticed a few days ago that there was a category column on Azureus, and I thought it would be really great if I could automatically categorize my torrents when I started downloading. Fortunately, someone already thought about that way before me and created Auto Categorizer. It's a pretty simple plugin. You can automate the process of categorizing torrents by filename and tracker URL.

Anyway, I'm doing this tutorial in Azureus Vuze 4.2.0.2 using the Classic Interface. I'm not 100% sure this will work in all versions, but it works in the latest version. If you don't want to read my tut, you can download the plugin here: Auto Categorizer

Step 1: Enable the Category column
In your downloads section, Right Click > Column Setup

Find Category and click Add. Click OK.

Do this for your uploads section as well.

Step 2: Download and Install Auto Categorizer
Go to Plugins > Installation Wizard... > By list from sourceforge.net

This will bring up a list of plugins you can install.
Check Auto Categorizer then hit Next and Finish.

    Install the plugin.

    Step 3: Setup Auto Categorizer
Go to Tools > Options > Plugins > AutoCategory

Make sure Autocat enabled is checked and Change already-categorized torrents is checked.

In Trigger, enter a tracker url. It doesn't have to be the entire url.
    Ex: demonoid.com

In Category, enter what you want that tracker to be called.
    Ex: Demonoid

    In Field, select Tracker URL

    Click Add and Save.

And there you go. It should work. If it doesn't, um.. grrr?

If anyone has alternative methods, or if someone knows how to do this in uTorrent, please post in this thread, and I will link it here. I've never used uTorrent, so I'm not sure if it's super easy to do or if you can't do it at all.

Wow.. In uTorrent you just have to click the Tracker tab once or twice (Depending on how you want it)

Well, yeah. There's a Tracker Name column in Azureus as well, but to me, this is much more organized. You can rename the tracker to something cleaner, it adds tabs on the top so you can easily view all the torrents from one tracker, you can set up and down limits by tracker, and you can also queue and stop torrents by tracker. Very useful for me.

Is there a way, like this in utorrent, instead of the manual label thing?

This is all I found for uTorrent: Auto-label torrents - Forums - µTorrent - The Lightweight and Efficient BitTorrent Client
It's basically a suggestion for tracker auto labeling and tracker settings.

It's a pretty old thread though so I'm not sure, really.

thanks for the tip, on another note im sure most of you are aware but in case your not, Azureus/Vuze is a banned client on alot of trackers due to providing bad tracker data so if your going to use it be sure to check your trackers rules alnd make sure it is not a blacklisted client.

    Happy Torrenting.

UGH...too bad I use Utorrent then huh? :( Loads of sites don't allow azureus...

This would have helped a lot for quickly selecting a tracker that required an upping for a bad ratio
