    Default Azureus Configuration (full)

-> Before you start, please check if you haven't got any previous installation of JAVA and Azureus. If you have then, first of all uninstall them and reboot your PC. This will help you in any Memory/CPU usage in the first place.
-> When you done that lets begin with the installation. First of all we need JAVA from Azureus Download Page where we will find an installation source of Azureus and download it. When the Java is installed reboot the system for Java to integrate with it. Then we install Azureus. After that start the program from Windows Start Menu > Programs > Azureus > Azureus.lnk. Then follow the instructions in this tutorial.

    --------------------------------------------

+> First we open the configuration of Azureus:

    Menu Tools>Options.
+> there we have "Connection" - here we set up our port the we use for torrents and communication with tracker and other connection settings. The settings are explained bellow.
    * Incoming TCP listen port - Here is the place where the one of the most important things go. The port that we use. You have to change the standard 6881 port to another above the Block list of ports. For Azureus I suggest to use this port range 45000 - 65000. Advice try not to ask people what ports they are using. this will prevent ISP's ob blocking those ports or trotle them down. Remember you have to test your ports. If one port isn't working well try another one.

    * Maximum simultaneous outbound connections attempts - Windows with SP2 allow maximum of 10 connections in standard. You can use XPAntiSpy to change that number in the special tab in that program. If you have connection below 512kbps you don't need more than 10 connections. But if you have better connections you can change this number higher. Then the peers will connect faster (in larger amount).

    * Networks - There is only one setting here. Public Ip Network because the site require people to be registered for using the tracker. And only people from this tracker are allowed.

    * Peer sources - Select only this field "From Tracker". that mean the peers will only be get from tracker it self.

    +> Next place. "Transfer":

    Settings:

    * KB/s global max upload speed - Here we set up our global Upload speed. No matter if we are uploading one torrent or several ones the speed want get higher then that. If you are leeching(downloading) a torrent and seeding at the same time I recommend to set it to: 80% of your maximum speeds. Unless you have a symmetric connections so you can set it to your maximum or to 0 [unlimited].

    Connections Speeds:

    + 64 kbps - 8 kB/s
    + 128 kbps - 16 kB/s
    + 256 kbps - 32 kB/s
    + 512 kbps - 64 kB/s
    + 1024 kbps - 128 kB/s
    + 2048 kbps - 256 kB/s

    * KB/s global max download speed - Set it to about 90-95% of your maximum speed, so there are few kB/s left for the communication with the tracker and peers. And of course you have some kB/s to serf trough websites/mail.

    Connections Speeds:

    + 64 kbps - 8 kB/s
    + 128 kbps - 16 kB/s
    + 256 kbps - 32 kB/s
    + 512 kbps - 64 kB/s
    + 1024 kbps - 128 kB/s
    + 2048 kbps - 256 kB/s

    * Default max upload slots per torrent - This is the place where we set the number of slots per torrent:

    + 64 kbps - 2-3 con.
    + 128 kbps - 3-4 con.
    + 256 kbps - 3-5+ con.
    + 512 kbps - 5-8+ con.
    + 1024 kbps - 10-15+ con.
    + 2048 kbps - 15-30+ con.

Those are only some sort of suggestion. You don't have to follow them, you have to figure them out by yourself.

    # * Maximum number of connections per torrent Maximum number of connections globally :

In this place we set up the number of peers per torrent and global. At the number we set the peers want connect anymore. Global is the amount of every torrent we are running when it reaches that number then there want be any new peers.

    * Allow multiple connections from the same IP - This option allows peers to connect several times from the same Ip. it's not recommended to turn on.

Other boxes are just for your use only. If you turn them on it want change nothing in the working just few other options like Prioritize first and last piece of file | Prioritize most completed files.

    +>"Files" > Performance Options:

This section is for making less usage of CPU and Disk.

    * Friendly hash checking - A slightly slower. but less stressful on cpu/system, piece hash checking mode.

    * Maximum files opened for read/write - Useful if you download torrents with a high number of files in them, and you are reaching file handle limits of the OS. I recommend of leaving this setting. If you see that Azureus eat up to much resources or slows down the Pc set this number below 50.

    * Maximum outstanding disk block writes - 0:unlimited. For disks with low writing performance. Limiting this will decrees memory usage.

    * Maximum outstanding check pieces - 0:unlimited. If u have slow CPU it can slow down the PC and make the memory usage larger. Then limit it to about 25-50. Remember you have to test those setting by yourself.

    * Enable disk cache - It will make data write to cache (memory), it make the memory usage bigger but it helps the disk to work faster (when we play games use programs with high disk usage).

    * Size of cache in MB - When Azureus is installed it is set mine to 4. If you have more ram and willing to share it with Azureus then set it higher. I don't recommend setting this higher then 32 MB. That should be enough. Remember to restart your client after this. And don't forget to save before exit. If you set this amount higher then 4 then the memory usage will grow at javaw.exe (main running program).

    + 128 - 2 MB
    + 256 - 4-6 MB
    + 512 - 10-16 MB
    + 1024 - 16-32 MB

    Information:
you have to remember that the memory usage will grow but the stress on disk will be smaller. And sometimes it may grow very high if we have large torrents running (or more then 2 running torrents with total size bigger then 1GB).
Other options we don't change in this settings.

    +>"interface" > Display:

    * Setting here can have some inflict on the memory/cpu usage be wise.

Almost all of the boxes that we can turn on/off have inflict on the look of the client. But the most important thing is explained below.

    * Update GUI every - This field (drop down menu) is used to set up how often the statistics are refreshed:

    + 100/250/500 ms
    + 1/2/5 s
It gives us the possibility to chose how often it will be. For faster CPU's you can set it bellow 500ms at lower above that. If you see that the CPU usage is to big try to lower the refresh rate.

    * Update Graphical bars every N GUI update(s) - it's a multiplayer of the refresh cycle. If u set Update GUI at 250ms and this filed 4 it means 250ms * 4 = 1sec. And the graphical bars will update every 1 second.

    * Re Order tables every N GUI update(s) [0:never] - refreshes the tables/sorting in the torrent details. The same thing as above.

    * Enable the distributed database - [/b]This box should be disabled (turn off). This database gather information about the peers. For your safety it should be turned off.

After turning this option off, necessary is to save and restart your client.

    +>"Sharing":

Another important thing. And like this function above called DHT it must be set as I write it below.

    * Private Torrent - only accept peers from the tracker - This option and only this is recommended for this tracker. If this isn't turn on there can be problems with the stats in your profile.

This option allows only peers from the tracker that our torrent is running. All stats should record properly after those settings. There still can be some errors (tracker overload/page overloaded) like not updating stats. There is little we can do about it. But in time all can be fixed.

    +>"Queue:

Here we can set how many torrents we can download/upload at the same time. There are other setting that can override the number of torrents DL/UL at the same time.

    +>"Queue" > Seeding:

A little help for uploaders. you can turn on the option called Super Seeding. It will find peers with a good bandwidth and send to the at higher speed and the peers do the sharing as well as you at higher speed. But this isn't always working.

    +>"Queue" > Seeding > Auto Starting:

Turn on the box "auto Start all complete torrents with 0 peers.
