Default New members advice (on applying for invites and other things!)

Being a relatively new member myself, I thought I would write something about it. It's maybe not quite a tutorial, but more of thoughts and impressions I have so far.

Don't apply for every single invite you see! Target a few trackers that are attainable (for example, IPT is fantastic) and build a good ratio there. It will help you when you apply for other invites.

Actually, what I've noticed with myself (I've got about 10 trackers) is that it is a fair amount of work to give them the attention they deserve and to build ration on them. If you get 40 trackers you won't have any time to use them and enjoy them! It is easy to get carried away with excitement and keep applying for more, but most users can probably fulfill theirs needs with just a few (like IPT for example).

Another thing to do is target trackers that go well together. For example, IPT and TL are great because you can download from IPT which is easy to keep a ration and seed back on TL. Or BTN and BMTV also go together well. BMTV is very hard to seed on, so you DL from BTN and then seed on BMTV. Some of the HD trackers also go together well this way. Or you DL from IPT and reseed on those as well.

You only have so much time, use it wisely!

Another thing, there will always be invites to the different sites, if you go a bit slower you will learn as you go along and be more prepared for some of the harder to seed sites. I know I want a few trackers that are harder to get into (like PTP, SCC, GFT, etc.) but I believe they will be easy to get eventually. Just try to contribute to Torrent Invites, build you rep and it will be much easier to get invited over time. What's one month of waiting for a tracker? You can probably fill your needs on other trackers in the meantime!

Anyway, just thought I would write this. I see some people with as many posts as I have but all of their posts are just applying for tracker invites and bonuses! Not a single post that contributes to T-I. I think the site is fantastic, I got a lot of out of it so far and I will get more out of it in the long term, so why not try to give back? Obviously giving back in invites is good, but you also can try to help others or contribute other interesting info.

I think whatever in you are, you have to try to take care about that account or membership. And there would be no meaning of this kind of race to get into more & more trackers!
Good advice by you... Great job!

thankyou canadianguy, i have been thinking along the same lines particualy around christmas. i suppose people been on holidays. i have noticed that users are trying to jump on trackers real quick and then getting themselves in trouble and risk getting banned and most important a bad rep. it is important that people understand that you can change you user name but not your ip address so once you have stuffed up thats it.i do now have a seedbox only because i need to know that i have got a good ratio and it is also nice to know that you are contributing to the torrent world by seeding. it is a good idea to take a step back give some thought on what you want to do and then how you are going to implement it! i have seen alot of invites given out during my time here at t-i which in turn will create more invites in the future so it will only get easier to receive invites.
I hope this helps some users here happy, torrenting to all

I'm already struggling to keep my few trackers in a ratio and active. Its sort of an addiction.

the key is to get trackers that you are actually going to use do your research and make sure you are getting into the tracker for the right reasons

I try to do a little buffer on the trrackers I'm really planning on Downloading alot before I start. For instance I have a 10+ ratio on Bitsoup so I dl'd a 0 day brand new movie that was the same as the 1 at Torrentleech so I could help seed. Got the inf ratio for that torrent and so on. And sometimes when I first join a hard to seed tracker if I see something with a very favorable S/L ratio I'll download even if I don't want .Up that torrent for a couple days adds a couple gb to my up none to my down. I have seen how hard it is when you start and dl right away. I learned my lesson years ago. Build a buffer then DL

Very good advice indeed. But what I've seen most of the users want to join on so many trackers whatever if they planned to use them or not. It's kind of "fashion" I guess to be registered on 1000 trackers.
