    Very useful post.
I'm new in where but I used to give invites on other forums and I stopped when I was banned of SCC for, as they say "Invited a cheater".
    Newby mistake...

Ratios and photoshops aren't the only way to fake a ratio.

The overall ratio could be increased, and I just happen to know a way to download off any tracker without the download being registered.

Same goes to speedtest.net, it's easy to spoof as it uses a simple imput methode from the flash, in which I can use to make myself a 100/100Mbit home connection, which will "proof my high ratio" from before.

Overall, the only way you can prevent getting yourself banned, is keeping an eye out for them.
If their ratio drops below 0.05 on the first day, PM a staff of the torrent site saying you invited a friend and he too much of a dumbass to care about his ratio, even though you told him, and that if his account could be disabled to prevent your account getting effected by his stupidity.

I just wanted to say: while I get Jenna's point about claiming to be a torrenter for years, but a member of trackers for a short time...in my case I am very honest about the fact that I used public trackers for years. So technically a "torrenter" for over a decade, but very recently (beginning of this year) joined the private community because I got tired of all the garbage out there and would rather share with a small group of responsible people than the entire world of punks.

I sometimes will go into the Intro section and read the new intros and many times I will go look at the rejected ones just to see how stupid some people are.
Anyways one of the rejected intro's was because the guy had a ratio cheating software installed and it was running on his task bar. (Nice catch Bridskid )
I did not notice it because, and I'm sure I speak for many people here when I say, I do not cheat, so I don't know what the icons look like.
So I did a search for what is probably the most popular programs, installed them to see what the icons looked liked, in case I ever work the Intro section.
I 'am posting a screen shot of what they look like as a reference, just in case the Intro Mods are not familiar with them or anyone else who works the Intro section.
JustJenna - Feel free to add this picture to the first post so people won't have to dig thru pages to find it.

Now I know exactly what to look for in my first GA :)

By the way, since I'm still new here, I was wondering: Do inviters have any obligation to give an invite to others? If the inviter is somewhat suspicious, even with little or no proof, must he/she give the invite or can the inviter reject?

If your the inviter, you can do what ever you want, give it or not give it to who ever you want, it's your invite and your rules. I have told people no, just because I wasn't comfortable with them.

A rule that should be made, is that screenshots can not be edited in photoshop, in any possible way.
This should be to prevent people from faking their ratios and uploads/downloads.
Photoshop leaves traces of use on images, in which can be binarily found.

    Also another rule should be that the users should post a link to their ISP with the speedtest, to prevent anyone from faking an internet connection or a speedtest, like so;

I knew this post felt familiar, and I'm kinda disappointed that nobody has done anything about it yet.

From my knowledge, Photoshop only modifies some header metadata (e.g. EXIF fields or something similar), particularly the "Program Name" field. There usually are no other bit-level traces left on the image.

This "Program Name" field can easily be viewed by downloading the image and inspecting its "Properties", then its "Details" tab in Windows Explorer, or with an EXIF analyzer.

However, I personally find this analysis irrelevant, because Photoshop shouldn't be banned, as it can be used only to paste the screen capture and easily blur out some names and details. And if a real faker would really want to replace some key details, he would copy-paste the end product and recode it with MS Paint, or manually edit the headers.

Thanks, this is very good for those rare invites that could result in a ban if the person you invited is a cheater.
