Default How to set-up XChat for irc.torrent-invites.com

    * Please note that this is also new to me, but I know how to set-up the basics and that's all that you need. *

First before you can start with this guide you will have to install XChat on your pc first. This should be easy enough for you to do on your own.

For Linux I would simply download it from your repository's or download it from the homepage. It may very likely also be available under other OS'es but I don't know how to get those.

For Windows I would download it from another location since XChat has decided to release that version as shareware since it takes to much time to compile it under windows. Only others have taken their task upon them to do this for free and release that, this is even completely legal since it's licensed under a FOSS-license.
I can recommend this web-page of the version that I use: link.

After installing you will get the following windows on first start-up with already some things filled in for you:

Under Nick name you will have to fill in you desired nickname.
On Second Choice and Third choice you fill in what would want if he the previous is already taken. (If all are taken you will be assigned a random Nickname.)
[b]User name[b] "can generally be anything you like, just make it up." as quoted from the XChat homepage.
Real Name is up to you what you want to fill in there, Reality or complete fiction.

Okay, now let's go to adding irc.torrent-invites.com to the networks list.
Click on Add, name the torrent invites IRC channel anything you want, I simply picked: irc.torrent-invites.com
Now keep the newly created network selected and press edit. Click on newserver/6667 and fill in the following: irc.torrent-invites.com
Edit: Change that to: 85.17.141.25 for now, it's the direct IP address. The URL doesn't work at the moment.
Leave the rest as it is at default nothing more has to be changed.
You two windows should now look something like this:

Press Close, select the network you have just created and press connected.

Congratulations you are now connected to the torrent-invites.com IRC channel. Hope you will enjoy it.

    * Greetings, Elonoir. *

The IRC has a password now. You can PM me, any other moderator or Malakai if you want to know the password. Might add it in the guide as how to use it.

Edit: It's only the main channel which has an password now, you can enter the general #help channel of the IRC, if you want access to the rest of the IRC you will have to PM one of the moderators or Malakai for the password.

Because Chatzilla isn't nativly avalible for Unix distros... I think....

Xchat is pretty fast so it's a good one to use. It's way better than mIRC.

Because ChatZilla requires a runtime environment and xChat doesn't, also I haven't tried out ChatZilla out myself expect a quick look at the firefox addon which I found shit.
Mostly probably between my eyes, but I also didn't liked mIRC and I am a supporter of OpenSource software.
Xchat is just the first nice thing I found , that is why I use it and used Xchat in this tutorial.

If you are using GNU/Linux I highly recommend irssi as your IRC client.
It runs in your terminal, and is very easy to use. There are also plenty of perl scripts available to increase its functionality.
