Default How To Anonymize Some Links Posted Here

In order to avoid generating ill-will (or worse) towards us, bringing unwanted attention to TI, it is strongly recommended that you anonymize any potentially harmful URL link posted in the forums.

This applies especially (but is not limited to) invite-only sign-up pages to some premium private trackers that enforce strict rules and aggressive trace-and-ban policies against anyone posting invite requests or simply mentioning their track names (sic!) in any site. Those sometimes include banning whole IP ranges from their trackers.

So if you know you're dealing with a potentially 'poisoned' sniff-back link, please follow this single instruction to rend it harmless:

    * Please type
    http://anonym.to?
before any URL you're going to post

    Example:

Suppose the url is google.com and you want to hide the referrer back to us and yourself:

    1. Bare address should look like this:

    http://anonym.to?http://www.google.com

    2. Or linked text like this (click on it to test it):

    Google search

If you open Notepad and save http://anonym.to? as an anonymizer template in TXT format, you don't even have to type it again and again, it becomes a cut-and-paste business. So there.

You should also use it in your PMs (private messages) and emails, when sending links to signup pages.

I've always found just changing your link so it does not auto detect pretty safe, but this is not bad either.

    I fully agree...

Using dereferrers for link anonymity is always a good standard practice. Especially for sites like this, to keep it under the radar..

I saw that some sites switched from anonym.to dontknow.me/at/

I don't know why, unfortunately.. if anyone has some background info on dereferring services, please share

What about an automatic link anonymization? So that any http://... link will be modified to use a dereferrer when submitting the board post.

I am pretty sure there is a mod for vBulletin to automatically anonymize links. Actually, it could be easily done.

anonym.to | Anonym surfen | link to other sites anonymously

There is a script you can use to implement it on vBulletin. :)

And, theres probably something else on the vBulletin website too.

if the script was implemented automatically, then that would certainly help keep TI under the radar of most sites and other people just looking for some one to mess with......lets say they follow one of us back here and collect our IP's then scrutinize their members IP's. Next thing you know your disabled or banned from one of your treasured places
