Veritas, maybe you can lock the thread if there's too much spammer already and added link to the help section in T-I and told them to make a new thread if they got real problem with IRC. It's better imo.
No, i let it open for questions and problems folks might have it trying mIRC for the first time. This thread will not be locked..

Veritas, thanks for the great tutorial, I use a mac and was able to apply parts to my installation of Colloquy (a mac irc client 10.4.x or higher required). I thought I might add instructions for the mac here as well to help anyone on this side of the computing fence.
First download the app from colloquy.info and unzip it. Drag the application over to your Applications folder at the root of your Hard Drive, then toss the zip file as you won't need it anymore. You may also wish to download and install Growl which is used for notifications.
Double click Colloquy and you'll be greeted with this window:
Expand the details area and fill it in as I have here - except use your nick of course ;)
You can also add the room you'll be using most by click the + button and filling the line in as shown above.
Remember the server requires a password as mentioned by Veritas's instructions, you may be asked for it again when you click connect.
At this point you'll want to register your nick and you can do that by following part II of Veritas's instructions. Once you're done you can edit the current connection entry by right clicking on it or using control+click and selecting get info:
Now you can add your Nick and password to the connection entry - this may work for those of you who have not upgraded to 10.6 snow leopard but I get asked for the passwords every time, even if I add them to my keychain.
That's it, enjoy!

I recommend XChat is easier than MiRC
I recommend you to go and recommend that somewhere else. If I wanted to make an tutorial about Xchat, trust me, I would do it..

If you guys use firefox, they have this add-on called chatzilla...
The thing with IRC is that it doesn't require fancy messengers...
I've been using chatzilla since day one...And it has never failed me...
