If you have a seedbox with SSH access, you can easily turn it into a socks 5 proxy server. With socks proxy, you can surf the web, download via FTP and even chat via your favorite instant messenger without revealing your real IP.
Here is how it is done:
1. Open putty.
2. Set up your host name and port as usual.
3. In putty configuration page, add a source port, select Dynamic.
4. Go to your browser and set up proxy.
For internet explorer, it is Tools-Internet Options-Connections and choose LAN settings.
Now check Use a proxy server for your LAN, and click Advanced.
Uncheck Use the same server for all protocols andtype in the SOCKS row 127.0.0.1 and the source port you just chose.
5. Connect putty to your seedbox, login and you can use SSH as usual.
Now you can use the proxy in your brower, or set up proxy in other programs you use.
Cheers. You just got yourself a private proxy.
