Default how to FXP files from one seedbox to another the proper way

    OK
I am writing this tutorial because I see so many people say make a .torrent on a tracker and download it etc.. to transfer files form one seed box to another.

First some may wonder what is FXP? Well, FXP is the File eXchange Protocol. It isn't an actual protocol, just a method of transfer making use of a vulnerability in FTP. It allows the transfer of files between two FTP servers.

So reasons you will want to do this vs. making a torrent on another site to download are simple.
    1. you don't want to use public trackers on any seed box
    2. you don't want someone else grabbing a torrent you are just trying to transfer box to box (which will slow down your transfer)
    3. Since you shouldn't be using public trackers on a seed box to start with this means you would be using a private tracker that in most cases is against the rules of private tracker sites and you are just hurting your ratio doing this.

So lets get to it as this is very simple stuff no not every seed box will work it depends on the access or permissions you have on your box. seedboxs i can verify I have used this on is boxslots, feral, evoboxes, rapid speeds, and every VPS or dedi I have tried.

You will need a good program to do this so what you want is FTPRush found here:
Wing FTP Server - Secure FTP Server software for Windows and Linux
use the free version as it is personal use.

Now that you got the program lets start by adding servers or seed boxs to it.

You will need your login details to both servers.
Now you have two windows open: on the right you see your local data, and on left you see a blank window. Now go to Tools > Site Manager > Click "Sites" > File > New > New Site > Type the name for your first site and press OK. Now put your login in this window and click OK.

Now do the same for that other server as well.

Now switch from local view to remote using this button:

Now connect to both of those servers and go to your torrent clients data folder:

Now choose all folders and files and just drag-and-drop them into that other window (server) and it will start fxp'ing the files right away.

Now not only is this simple it is faster and you get a true speed connecting box to box rather then trying to create a torrent file and redown load that. IE: I was able to transfer a 10GB file from a 1GB box to another 1GB box in less then 2 minutes

Thanks for the tutorial! I was looking at doing this originally but when using cuteFTP, the Xirvik server wouldn't connect.

FXP appears to be a good method for transferring files box to box, but I wanted to make some points with respect to the .torrent method.

The .torrent method is a valid and a mostly secure method. If you use OpenBitTorrent - An open tracker project you will be the only one with access to the .torrent file. That site does not index the torrents, so you have to manually send the .torrent to someone in order for them to connect. There is no need to involve a public or private .torrent indexer.

I think you are confusing tracking with indexing. Piratebay indexes a bunch of torrents, but does not do the tracking. Somewhere like IPT does both. Openbittorrent.com just does the tracking.

Transfer speeds using seedbox to seedbox .torrent files are at the connection maximum.

What I'm getting at is either method will work securely.

I do agree but this is much faster and does not require any outside websites to get the job done which is always more secure. thanks for the feedback

    Hi guys,

Super!! just the topic i am looking for...

    One noob question...

Am i correct to assume the torrents will automatically continue to seed??.. With a change of server, there is for sure a change in IP address? Does trackers penalize this?

I am thinking of switching to a bigger HDD seedbox so that i can keep seeding

It's fine to switch servers as the trackers will continue to track you through your passkey. You will however need to reload the .torrent files on your new server and point the directories to the actual locations of the data files on your new server.

Mmm.. i lose you a little... by reloading the .torrent i assume you mean the initial file I got off from the tracker. What if I do not keep those files? (I have file seeding like 3 months ago)...

Point to the actual location... How do i do that?

Sorry for be such a noob... I am using ruTorrent... any detailed guide?

just add the file to your box then go to the site and redownload the .torrent file. add the .torrent file to your new box and select do not start seeding before clicking ok.
after the torrent shows in rutorrent right click and verify data by using "force recheck" once 100% verified start seeding again

    Awesomeee thank you.
I just bought a noob box and i was planning on upgrading next month but was unsure how to do the transfer. Can i do this with any ftp program? I like cuteftp because i get the best transfer speeds from it. Ive tried filezila and i transfer both ways around 1Mbps. With cuteftp, i transfer 5-6Mbps both ways so id rather not download a new program and just use cuteftp.

Thank you for taking the time to make this tutorial. As with many things there are several ways to transfer files from seedbox to another. FXP, SCP or making a .torrent of the content can all be used as well as FTP, although the latter would be a relatively clumsy way to do this.

If you wish to make a .torrent file, it is not usually necessary to use Open Bittorrent or other external trackers to host the .torrent. Instead you can use uTorrent on your home computer or VPS. uTorrent has a built in tracker that few know about. If you're not sure how this would be used, you can find a youtube tutorial about this here. The tracker feature itself can be enabled by going to the uTorrent preferences menu | advanced

    bt.enable_tracker .. true

@ hybridx3: you should be able to use cuteFTP for a FXP transfer
