Though I put this review in the seedbox category it shouldn't really be considered a seedbox. Put.io has its own client and gui that have other functions that can be very interesting depending on what type of user your are. for example, if you download a 10gb 1080p MKV file, Put.io will give you the option to have the server automatically create an iphone compatible version. You can also share your downloads with other users on the site. Its much more or a social downloading utility than a seedbox. There are a few cons though, for exaple, you have much less control than with a seedbox. For example, you can't seed past a 1 ration, you can't create torrents and trust me, you'll go through the bandwidth quickly (though you can always buy more on a one time basis). Downloading through HTTP i was getting good speeds though, around 16Mbps. This is in my opinion great for a torrent beginner that doesn't want to be making any direct connections with their personal IP and plan on downloading as much freeleech as possible (you'll have to to keep your ratios up)

Thank you for the review. I've had my eye on this site ever since I heard about it (when it was in beta), but from what you've said it seems like a real seedbox would be better for my purposes :).

Put.io are giving away trial accounts through twitter
    Put.io (putdotio) on Twitter
There were about 100 left the last time I checked.
If you miss out you can follow them on twitter. They give away trial accounts every so often.

    Edit: They're all gone now

I got a trial account and Waffles tells me it's using Trasmission 1.92. Just a fun fact for everyone who might be interested.

I had a beta account on this and believe me it's very good, for grabbing movies and streaming them onto your pc and it's very fast also. There's also other neat features like downloading rapidshare links.

I made a few screenshots of my account for you guys to check out the GUI, from a development standpoint they did an amazing job on the application.

Just a little update, a friend of mine just told me today that they took away access from him to one of the trackers he uses. I'm not sure if this is something they plan on continuing but it should be taken into consideration when signing up.

The bandwidth is only deducted when you download files from your put.io account to your home computer. It doesn't use any of your bandwidth for leeching/seeding.
